I dont think anyone on the bench has proven form. Kenny has shown more than May. Tago has shown a bit of brilliance. Huth and Sorensen have just been plodders.

If May doesn't play then Kenny needs to. Covers 9 and can give Yeo a rest like May does and still have the ball play.

Ivan loves plodders. Leinu was dropped last week.
Hopgood is out for a month like Kikau.

Leaves very few options for the bench. You can't drop everyone.

Add Hopgood and Kikau to the 17 and it is stronger. Those 2 atleast come back possibly a better Leinu and May and you have less frauds in the side.

Staines and Eisenhuth should be next if form doesn't pick uo

You can't drop Staines for being small and not put into space. Ivan re-signed and picked him knowing his attributes. Either he's just there to get time in first grade and become the fullback in future (which you said would happen last year or the year before) OR the gameplan isn't quite right for him just yet, for example we don't kick for him like Storm do with JAC.

Can only assume Tyrone May or J’Maine Hopgood will be 18th man. Both will be free to play NSW Cup if not used.
If May has been dropped due to poor form, you'd think he'd play reserve grade in an effort to assist him gain back his form. That's usually how it works. I'm wondering if he's not on his way out of the club sooner rather than later, although no idea why they'd do this, since he's a perfectly adequate tackling machine if not much else at present and not on big money.

He could be injured?

May cards where marked when Alexander was asked at half time what Penrith needed to get back in the game .He said the halves needed to run more not just catch and pass .may had a big chance to shine but could not
Overall very happy with this team

A field goal lottery leads to cards being marked?

Size isn't the issue. Playing poorly is.

Lets compare him to JAC on the weekend

Staines:

10 runs.
73m gained.
3 tackle busts
5 tackles. 3 missed ( 1 led to a try)
2 errors

JAC

78m
3 tackle breaks
1 try
1 try assist
1 line break assist
9 tackles. 0 missed
0 errors

JAC even without the try and try assist is performing. No issue if the same could be said for Staines

If Ivan doesn't name him 7 in NSW Cup it is all on him. There is no way May should be named as 7 in any NRL side.

But if Ivan thinks he is a 7 then that is a different issue although

JAC: 118 career games NSW/Aus incumbent.

Staines: 16 career games.

Big difference between the 2 so my comment seems pretty appropriate. Either Ivan is just getting him experience or is misusing him as far as game plan goes from what I can tell.

JAC 118 NRL games 183cm , Staines 16 NRL games 184cm , give the kid a break.

See my post above. Very few players don't go up and down the grades early on in careers

I don't see it happening with Staines. The way the club has backed him supports what you and others said about him on here.

That attitude is part of why we lack the ruthless edge to really dominate this comp. Too many players getting the spoils of others. May and Momo were dropped. A couple of others are lucky to not be joining them

No it isn't. With a decent centre inside him and Nathan at 7 Staines has been a good finisher and good in defence. Only thing he's not doing as well is those set starting runs but we all know he isn't that kind of winger. That's what To'o is for. When was the last time he was legitimately put into space and failed? When was the last time they've kicked for him? The things Storm do for JAC don't happen at Penrith.
