I think that shows how underrated Souths forward pack has been. Keaon Koloamatangi in particular has been better than every second-rower nominated outside of a deserving Papali'i.

Papali'i should win this by a mile, but your boy should definitely be in the conversation for 2nd place.

Lock is the hardest to pick imo. There is nothing between Yeo and Murray.

I don't think it is, however the dally M winner is guaranteed to win their positional award.

HOW IS THE DALLY M TEAM OF THE YEAR SELECTED?​

Similarly to the Dally M Medal, it all comes down to votes - but there are some adjustments for the positional awards.

Every time a player polls a 3-2-1 vote from an NRL game, that will be added to their tally for the Team of the Year as well.


At the end of the year, each judge will also add one vote for each positional award.

I dont think the position awards were based on points? Props would hardly have 3 points between them

JFH was up in the top 5 at around round 10 iirc. But yeah, it's very much an exception for a prop to rank so highly. He may have polled enough points early to get the award, but his form since his lay off has been average at best compared to his usual.

edit. top 3 going by the original post in the thread. 16 points for a prop is outstanding for a season, let alone half of one.

He went from overrated to underrated.
His stats this season shits on both Olam and Manu.
Burton had a very good year too but he also played 6 games in the halves.

Pretty sure if you're suspended twice in the regular season you're not eligible for any Dally M award. No Reece Walsh for rookie, no Latrell for fullback, etc.

If it wasn't for Sam Walker, Reece Walsh would have the ROTY in the bag.

He probably would have hoovered up a few other awards to. He had a real rip snorter of a year.....

Yep, Walsh already ruled out. Mitchell no chance anyway - wasn't top 10 heading into final 7 rounds.
