Interested in what the fans are thinking. Mine is Kristian Woolfe. Has had a good record everywhere he's gone and coaches coming from the ESL don't seem as picky as current assistant coaches.

Ciraldo has a lot of love from the media however I'd be wary he could be another Barrett, plus I doubt he would come anyway.

Obviously not putting choices like Bellamy, Bennett etc there

P.S yes Penrith fans i know you're going to flood this thread, just try and keep it at a minimum yeah

I like Woolfe and I think we need to act fast and sign the best option for next year and beyond asap. The Dragons are probably making enquiries now and I would hate missing out if we took the Scomo approach and left it until we were absolutely forced to do something.
Likewise with our playing roster.

I picked Maguire but only because I don't see a better option. I have no idea if half of those guys can coach at all.

Flanagan was busted for all sorts of dodgy shit. Maybe Morris can do the job but Madge is more experienced. Rookie coaches are unlikely to improve us.

Maybe we need to change the coach just to make a change. If so take a pot luck.

What would you guys think about Toovey? I still find it odd his name never gets thrown into the ring. 4 seasons at Manly for 3 finals series incl a prelim and gf. Worst finish 9th. What am I not remembering that makes him the ginger step kid of the coaching world?

I’ve gone with Madge still, only because I don’t think the playing group is up to standard and it is taking time to reorganise it. There are still people in high positions (above Madge) who seem to still be happy with our 7.

Tooveys always been an odd one in that he never even gets mentioned for another gig. I actually don’t even know if he wants one? Isn’t he a partner at a pretty big accountancy firm + on the board at NRMA? Imagine it’s pretty cushy and well paid.

He seems like a Similar style coach to Madge to me and that’s the concern. That’s why I wouldnt entertain Paul Green either.

Flanagan. Clubs like ours (tigers, warriors) need a coach who is willing to do WHATEVER it takes to make the club successful. Sure he got busted for some dodgies at the Sharks, but if it wasn't for him, they would still be premiership-less and wouldnt be in the position they are in now.

From memory Tooves put his hand up for the Warriors job before N Brown got it. I think he'd be keen for another shot, and seems a decent coach.

I just think our players are basically uncoachable though. They have no interest in putting in the effort which results in not playing like shit.

I recall the panellists on 360 asking him if he would be interested in various coaching gigs in the last few years. He always seems like he is very keen. It baffles me that TBaz has a clipboard and Toovey doesn't.

Most of us learn from most of our mistakes. Especially winners. I’d rather take the chance of Flannagan than an unproven coach at NRL level lifting us out of the crap. The chance of F doing anything stupid again would have to be slim.
Anyway we need someone with balls and experience to see our weaknesses immediately and have the confidence to make the change now!

I'm tossing up between Woolfe & Flannagan. Woolfe is obviously unknown at NRL level so we're taking a punt. Flannagan has runs on the board at NRL level, but before he was punted from the sharks he'd started to mess up their roster monumentaly. Moylan & Johnson on massive deals etc. It's a hard one, there is no glaring standout IMO.

do I have to explain every little detail of what I write Simmo. It’s pretty straight forward even for you ..There’s a world of difference between Madge and Flanagan re game smarts etc. Have another beer or whatever it is that sets u off

We need someone that’s going to say Fk off sheens I’ll do this my way. I’m not taking advice from someone that decided to stop Brooks from leaving. Ok maybe untill the end of the year if need be but that’s it. There can’t be consultation there’s too many impersonators at WT for any of them to give the coach good advice. I mean look where we are

I feel like the issue is on field leadership, not coaching. I want to see Doeuihi and Hastings, together, barking orders at the players and implementing Madge's game plan.

If that flops then yeah maybe it is time to find a new coach

I think Madge should go only because there is no change. The 5 captains is OK but pick players who deserve it. The attack has never been this bad. Benji coming shows he was carrying our attack last few years. We need to stop wasting salary cap on players that are at their 4th club because they are picking up retirement money. His use of bench is dumb Seyfarth only played for Tuilagi's 15min concussion protocol. He has no tactics or an attacking game plan that puts pressure on opposition. The team is doing nothing on the field. Yes there are injuries but the players coming in are still professional athletes.

As far as its his team now is still harsh cos he hasn't had the chance until next year to get "star" players due to a dumb CEO ruining the cap the 3 years before Madge got here. If the same team is picked this week bar Hastings then I'm lost with him.

I picked Ben Gardiner because he had basically these same players Madden, Simpkin, Seyfarth playing with confidence. He is no longer the reserve coach and look at that team. So he obviously has an ability the get players playing consistantly or seems like a coach they play for. Also he knows the players a new coach will inherit this same team and will need another 3 years again. Madge seems to somehow take away any confidence our players have had.

I’m sticking with Madge to turn it around. Get rid of Pascoe, bring back Steve Noyce. Start again. Noyce just quit his job with the greyhounds, maybe somethings in the wind. Noyce and Sheens show back in town?
