Hull KR will play to a second sold out stadium tomorrow for their first time in their SL history. Elland Rd will be packed for the Semis Id expect. There are plans for new main stand at Craven Park which will increase capacity and see a further boost, especially if Tony Smith can get them back to the top for the first time since the early 80's. Be great to see Cas and wakey finally get decent grounds at some point. With crowds up, SL on FTA for the first time and drawing good audiences and a RLWC just around the corner English RL could be in for some good times at long last.

Championship crowds have been solid as well. Plenty exceeding 3000.

It’s a misleading article.

Salford wakey and huddersfield all have terrible crowds

super league average crowds are well down on their highs

Leeds were averaging over 15k it’s down around 3k. Wigan as well we’re over 15k and it’s down to around 11k

Would be good if KR did something with that end behind the sticks.

The robins are definitely on a upward trajectory.

Wigan have played 3 home games on a Thursday night (2 televised) and the other was a Friday night during an amber storm warning. That knocks a good few thousand off the gate.

Hull might be not a nice place some places but I love there Rugby League history and remember 30000 plus in ST.James Park at Magic Weekend and I thought I was living in a dream alternative universe watching Newcastle Rugby League and Sunderland Rovers :)

There are plans for development around the stadium which will include a stand at that end. Though the Craven Street food and drink area they’ve created for pre and post game there has been very popular this year.

Atmosphere at craven park sounded amazing. you have to experience a Hull derby to fully appreciate it!

It’s good to see super league clubs copying Toronto.

More to do with the fact the club was built on an absolute pack of cards, which soon came tumbling dow

lmao no they weren’t

English rugby league is always insular to outsiders. Argyle, koukash the game finds a way of pushing out rich backers

the Wolfpack crowds put them at the top of super league clubs. Ottawa wouldve come on board too.

paying the highest wages for a player in super league history is your idea of a house of cards ?

it’s decisions that like that are why the tv deal just got cut by 30 percent. Indeed sky may walk away together such has been the failure of the gene to grow.

if you look at the English game right now there are very very few positives about it. It’s all bad news

You see what you want to see. Toronto collapsed in a stinking heap and had to be chased to pay players what they were owed. if it wasn’t they’d be playing in SL now.

you say that but at least SL has a direct pathway into it. You could start a club tomorrow and in three years be in SL. In NRL you’ve got places like perth who’ve been trying for over a decade to get in and still no signs they will ever get a club.

simple fact is most of these new clubs simply dont have the resources to stay up, if they did they’d still be there. Nobody in the RFL caused the demise of Toronto or wales or london or Paris or Bradford. That’s on the owners/directors.

theres plenty to enjoy and celebrate in English rugby league if you look for it.

Toronto collapsed because argyle didn’t want to keep funding it. He’s still posting about rugby league today on twitter. He could’ve been a huge ally for rugby league. Your game closed the doors on him.

Toronto had the resources to be a top super league club. Not giving them tv money, and making them play games away from home was just stupid.

the only good thing happening in English league now is your club buying their stadium. Everything else in the game is a mess.

and of course your game will allow toulose to get relegated when there’s a World Cup in France in a few years. Just so Leigh or Featherstone can come into super league.

Hang on how did the game close the doors on him? He stopped paying the bills and then walked away as he couldn’t afford his play thing any longer. That’s all on him, not the RFL or other SL clubs. And there in lies the pack of cards. When a clubs existence is entirely dependant on how deep one man’spockets are it’s a very shakey existence, just ask Newcastle.

Toulouse wouldn’t be in SL if there wasnt promotion and relegation, it’s now entirely in them to survive or not.

SL on fta for first time ever
Catalans a success
Toulouse in SL
HKR thriving
players being producEd that nrl clubs want as talent is so good
A successful RLWC on the horizon despite the nrls best attempts to f**k it up

plenty of positives from my viewing point

He (argyle) asked for a share of the tv deal like Leigh who replaced them got. The new owners also asked for that too and got rejected.

cmon stop exaggerating. You are the one continually mocking the nrl as underperforming. You know the same nrl whose tv deal just got increased to 400 million pa. Meanwhile sky cut their deal by 30 percent and said they may not continue in the future.

crowds for the blue chip games are massively down. The challenge cup especially but even the super league grand final, even with tickets as cheap as ten quid

stop with the double standards. If you really want to be critical then look at super league.

the game in England has gone backwards for a decade. It’s pretty much in the same spot as rugby union is in australia …. Hanging on by a thread

just the collapse in Leeds and wigans crowds is bad enough. These are two of the biggest clubs.

and hull kr were on the precipice a few years ago as hudgell said he wanted out. Had he left your club would be in the same position as Salford cas or wakey.

you talk about Catalan’s as a success yet there are people in the English game who want them kicked out
