Staines is bog average. If you can't score tries on the wing in a team like the Panthers then how on earth are you going to contribute in a struggling team like Tigers
So rather than create competition for spots or build depth and resilience in a position we have been struggling with for over four years, the club instead throws a huge contract at a barely adequate fullback of questionable loyalty?Seems the Sheenius back at work?

‘Might not be able to afford him’: Salary cap drama as Leilua’s Cowboys arrival gets ‘very messy’
Luciano Leilua’s mid-season switch to the Cowboys is far from a done deal due to salary cap issues, despite the Tigers releasing him to start a three-year deal at North Queensland early.
The Tigers granted Leilua an immediate release after attempts to lure Reece Robson to Concord in a swap deal failed, with the club saying he would join the Cowboys for the remainder of the 2022 season.
However, North Queensland football manager Michael Luck revealed Leilua’s early arrival at the Cowboys is far from signed, sealed and delivered.
“We’ve asked the question, that’s where it’s at, at the moment,” Luck said on SEN Radio’s Pat and Heals show.
“There’s still a bit of water to go under the bridge at the moment, there’s nothing in writing anywhere.
“We’d love to get ‘Luc’, he makes us a better team particularly with the injuries now we had with Heilum and Tommy Gilbert especially this week and a couple more.
“We’re a club that likes to do our due diligence that makes sure every box is ticked.
“We’re going through that process, we want to get Luciano up here but it’s not a done deal yet.”
SEN’s Michelle Bishop believes salary cap pressure is behind the Cowboys’ inability to announce Leilua joining the club early for the remainder of the season.
“The Cowboys are certainly interested,” Bishop said on SEN 1170 Breakfast.
“Luciano has been told he can go, but the Cowboys have got to work out what they can afford with the salary cap.
“There is a very high possibility that they might not be able to afford him.
“The conversation hasn’t been finalised about what the Wests Tigers are going to chip in.
“It’s all very messy … none of the finer details have been worked out.”
The Tigers confirmed Leilua’s release via a statement.
Wests Tigers have granted Luciano Leilua an early release from his playing contract, effective immediately.
Leilua signed a three-year deal in November last year to join North Queensland Cowboys for 2023 and beyond.
He will now join the Cowboys for the remainder of this season.
Wests Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe says Leilua has made a valuable contribution to the club.
“We wish Luciano the very best with his future,” Pascoe said.
“He and his family have made a lot of friends here at the Wests Tigers and they will be missed.”
Leilua, 26 has played 99 NRL games for the Dragons and Tigers since his debut in 2016.
Watched a bit of Junior Tupou in the NSW Cup at Fullback, only 19yo, big, athletic and fast with an offload and a passing game. From what I have seen you would think they are grooming him to be the long term fullback, with what's happening at the moment I wouldn't be surprised if he gets a run at Fullback this year in the NRL squad.Surely it's not a huge contract but you wouldn't think Laurie would be deserving of a contract extension.
It would be a total farce to chip in if the reason we are doing it is for a salary cap advantage.![]()

Hopefully karma dictates he spends the rest of the season in NRL purgatory. Why on earth would the Tigers have to chip in anything on this move?!
Based on this season, he may well not make the starting side next year![]()

He moves with that natural flowing style that's appears that hes not even trying.Watched a bit of Junior Tupou in the NSW Cup at Fullback, only 19yo, big, athletic and fast with an offload and a passing game. Because the experienced coaches of Madge and Baz proved so successful. Add Jason Taylor and Ivan Cleary before Madge!![]()

The Bulldogs and Tigers can’t afford to have a rookie coach learning on the run if they want to rebuild their clubs as quick as possible.
For those that don't have Twitter or understand what this post is about let me know. It sheds a light on Lee H and his true opinions about US & also what he calls a real supporter $$
Our very astute Chairman is handling the pressure well. Doesn't seem to like being held to accountable for his job.
I’ve known Rob since we were kids although haven’t seen him in a few yrs.He comes from a massively passionate tigers family who have sponsored both Balmain in the 70’s -80’s & also the wests tigers. The rugby league illiterate knucklehead pompous chairman is an utter embarrassment.Dismissing valid & judicious opinions of fans & displaying favouritism towards members is contemptible & unbecoming for someone who holds the position of chairman. While ever he participates in decision making of WT the club is doomed.

Nailed it whizzo. The funny thing about this Leilua thing is that the only people who seem to be okay with this decision (on the whole) and not up in arms are Wests Tigers fans themselves. That is a sign of a few things.
(a) We all know this season is gone and the fans just don't care that much anymore (I know Im in that basket).
(b) Leilua is just robbing a future player of experience that wants to be here.
(c) He is playing like shit lately.
Im not sad to see him go in the slightest early. If we were in contention, different story.
