Admittedly, I am not 100% on how these contracts work in NRL, but I would have thought if you ask to leave (ie break contract) and the club says yes, then that's the end of payments. This is different to being "shopped around" to other clubs where the club usually has to chip in part of his contract.
Your prob right…Payton would have seen Luch play on the weekend. He’s an astute cat..Cowboys rang so many times asking for the release we thought it must be a go

Have we paid him up to the day of release or are we still paying him to the end of the season?
The way it would work is as I’m quiet sure players get paid from nov 1 each season then cows would pay him the proportion of his contract remaining for this season pertaining to the period between deed of release & oct 30.Hence they will assume & we will save approx 1/3 of his salary for this yr.

If a player is released from their contract then they cease to have any involvement with our club. No more payments. No more use of our facilities. No more responsibility from our end.

Luciano asked for a release and we granted it. We are under no obligation whatsoever to be involved with him in any capacity.

Panthers dressing room erupts as Api learns of Blues Origin recall

Good news for us!
Everyone in the media has been pushing for his inclusion , mainly because Cleary was average and they blame it on Cook. Bet once he is away from smugriff and with us you wont here a word from them pumping his tyres.

We are doing our best to scare away Ciraldo with this pile of dogshit of an effort. I can cope by cained every week if the boys try but to not have a dig is criminal.

I don't give a flying f**k about Ciraldo. There is no way any coach can turn this team around. We need a bunch of quality players to come here.

And we do that by having a quality coach and we do that by having a quality team and we do that by having a quality coach etc etc

I agree but there has to be a way to stop the cycle. I think it comes down to recruitment and even more importantly recruitment of gun juniors.

On the positive side I think the club can turn it around because our cap isn't screwed.

I hope you are right. If we are not paying overs we must have a couple of million up our sleeves.

I think we should be paying out about 1/4 of our cap.

I still think we can turn this around quickly if the club makes the right decisions. The problem I have is that there is an incentive to screw the longer term results looking for quick fixes. I'm fine with paying marquee dollars for marquee players but I can see the club paying overs for dud players.

If we sign another Josh Reynolds it'll kill us.

We also can't retain the wrong players on overs. Brooks should be for instance offered a contract of at best 150k in 2024 and he should be viewed as a fringe first grader.

Probably because he will not be playing in a good team, that’s why no one will be pumping his tyres. He is a great player, but we will find out about his talent next year at the rabble you call the Tigers.

you guys had literally the same team in 2019 and came 10th, then you signed Api and made the GF next year. But yeah, he sucks

Api will make a huge difference to your team.

I am sorry to see him go. Hopefully we can cover for him with a combination of Kenny and Soni Luke. I think we will be OKish. But it's sad to see Api go. Sadly with the salary cap we just couldn't fit him in.

Api will bring so much to your team. He is a great buy.
