yea something between 700K & maybe up to 750K
I think that beats last year ? & is extroidnary for a domestic womens sporting contest

was an outstanding game too
just first class entertainment.

It was so good wasn't it? If they keep playing like that it will become a must watch event just like the men's is now. Also can we please start playing it in a quality stadiums like Parra and NQLD? It deserves better then the crappy grounds they have had to put up with thus far. Hopefully from now on we will and the crowds should also increase as a result. A game like last nights deservers to be played in front of 20-30K crowds with a real spectator buzz in state of the art facilities.

should all be played together
not hotch botch here & there

origin mid year
tests at the end of the year

Stand alone it would get drowned in other news from many sports and general news cycle.

Given the season starts at Aug/sept you need the build up the comp games produce.

Into Oct/Nov that is a quiet time for sport.

Comes to cost. Aim atm is exposure so it is done on the cheap

236 000 metro which usually means about 140 000 regional. Foxtel had 158 000 stb which translates to about another 140 000 on Kayo. BVOD figures on Nine will probably add about another 20 000.
So all up I`d roughly estimate about 700 000. The game itself deserved twice that figure at least.

metro overnights were down, fox stb was up. Fox and kayo combined up, but not massively so.

12k at an average of $20 a ticket

750k on TV is worth what if sold seperately?

To become professional every player would need around $100k

10 teams x 30 players is $30m.

SOO is the valuable product in mens game. No reason you couldn't get atleast half of that back IF the series in positioned in a better window.

You think they need to become fully professional because they will require ONE night off work for the year to play a mid week origin ?

Tell me ..
do you think the Qlders knocked off their day job on Friday at 5pm .. rushed to the airport . got a super quick flight to Canberra & piled straight onto the field ?
No , they had the entire week away from work same as the NSW girls. They all got very well paid for it as well relatively speaking , the Qlders $15K a player.

Next year & for the next few it will be a mid week origin on an alternate wednesday night to the men in the middle of the year. They will then play their season shortly after & then they will represent their countries at the end of the year.
The future direction of the womens game & semi to FT professionalism won't affect this schedule. We're never going to the end of year for mens or womens origin ,that will be the domain of international football .. deal with it.

No I said to play 3 Origins. Directly after the NRLW season because it is

1- quiet period of the year in the sporting calendar. Gives clear air to build the sport up

2- those who live away from Sydney or Brisbane have already taken up a lease or something an extra few weeks to that is easily done.

You never answered my question. How much is 750k viewers worth in a random day to TV?

You need to block the competition and Origin series together to sell it for rights and for Logistics.

No reason you still can't play internationals as well. Cricket doesn't really start properly until December

well lets see, it rated as well as a normal season club game
ch 9 pay about a million bucks a game for one of those , so about $1 million.

a drop in the bucket in the scheme of things

Just take the L mate.

That was a dumb take and you should feel dumb.
You know they tried to sell the World Cup tv rights and there was little interest

that game could’ve shown fox international games could rate their socks off

It was 750k across both fox and ch9 though

Throw in $100k production costs and it wouldn't break even let alone make a profit to give back to the players.

That is the problem with just slotting it into a random Wednesday night.

PTV test audiences

PNG v Fiji 167k
Samoa v Cook Is 155k
NZ v Tonga 138k

NX v Tonga womens 32k

Surprised the NZ game was the lowest given it was the most anticipated?

They have a program that can measure online traffic etc. that would of been way down with the few days less build up.
