Re stats I absolutely hate what they have on NRL.com. They should allow fans access to CSV files as suggested so they can nerd out.

It would also put some of the media analysts on notice for once. Those guys should be looking at those numbers and drawing insights for fans and some of them sound like they are too busy eating meat pies watching the game.

Fox sports are better for that but you can't look at previous years like on NRL.com.

The problem if they did analysis of stats (and there are some unreal websites in the US dedicated to stats) you would have 3/5 of bugger all people read them; the media are not hear to educate us but to sell content and access. RL is not a big game and so the media needs to go to the lowest common denominator to fill content.

It's also harder to do stats for the NRL than the NFL.

A quick play the ball essentially changes the set and you would need to find an objective measure to what a quick play the ball is and then have every stat include whether it was preceded by a quick play the ball. A missed tackle off a slow play the ball and set defensive line is the cardinal sin of rugby league yet we have no idea which players are the worst for it.

The NFL gets to reset every play and start again (like cricket and baseball).

You are right. And those games also have more defined roles that it is easier to find differentiated stats for. So it is definitely easier to find stats for other those other games.

But I’d still argue it likely comes down to economics. If there was more money in league and more interest for stats, we would have more mainstream reporting of stats (over and above SuperCoach stats that are blunt and sh!t).

there are a number of options, he can come onto the wing, May into centre, Tago into the forwards. He could play in the centres where he had some games in NSW cup, not ideal given his defence there is a concern. Played a bit of five eighth at schoolboy level. perhaps they may give him some minutes in his best position which is fullback and shovel Edwards somewhere else in the backline.

We have replaced Kikau who plays 80 mins with Smith that plays 30.

The bench to go with that is a hooker - Api will play 80.
