What CD Are You Listening to ?

I’m listening to Tears For Fears new album The Tipping Point.

Stunning production, elegant mature pop, full of joy, melancholy and regrets.

I started listening to these guys in 1985. If was this to be their final album - tempestuous band dynamic, time between recordings, their pedantic nature - it would be a fitting epitaph to a stunning, creative career.

New Earthless release is farkin awesome & intriguing, just like the bulk of what they’ve done to date.
3 tracks, an hour long & not a second wasted. Eargasmic.

The time is right for some 1980s Japanese electronica.

Logic System - Logic which contains the infinitely brilliant Unit. Way ahead of its time.

Yellow Magic Orchestra - Technodelic with standout tracks being Neue Tanz and Seoul Music. Thank you Mr Ryuichi Yamamoto.

Chris Cornell (compilation)

interesting compilation of all his bands (Soundgarden/Temple of the Dog/Audioslave) and solo stuff. Very few Soundgarden songs from their famous/mtv era (1991-96) though... Such a great and versatile singer.

Ah.... Steve Kilbey.... dirty Pommie scouse.

I saw an interview of him about 25 years ago where he said The Church's worst ever song was An Unguarded Moment because his guitarist f**ked up ONE SOLITARY NOTE. Wow 😲.

If i took notice of many of the negative things some of my favourite or major artists have said or done over the years i wouldn't listen to music. Have heard first hand reports about people who have worked with Glenn Shorrock and Tina Arena but still listen to their music, Glenn Shorrock was mainly about his ego and how he was better than anyone else and i have even seen one of Tina's tantys myself from a distance but someone i knew who worked for Sony saw many of Tina's melt downs even though they got on very well with her. If Steve Kilby was unhappy with Unguarded Moment because of a note stuffed up why didn't they do it again then.

Another genre driven arvo of music.

Late 1970s and early 1980s British punk.

The Stranglers, Gang of Four, The Scars, Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Slits, Bow Wow Wow, The Clash to name a few.

And Ronnie Biggs' rendition of the Sex Pistols' "Belsen Was A Gas".

Just had an early morning dose of Russell Morris. Most underrated Aussie musician of all time.

A national treasure. Near where i live we have a small live venue place called the Camelot Lounge, over the last few years i have managed to see Russell perform live there twice, one of the best live acts i have seen, have also seen him in one of the Apia concerts at the Enmore theatre . If you get a chance to see him live don't hesitate, you wont be disappointed.

Love him singing Hush with Melinda Schneider here.
