There’s a bit of a Manly 1995-97 vibe about I reckon.

- Manly in 95 and Penrith in 20 were pretty much equally dominant in the regular season, and choke to much less favoured opposition in the GF
- Manly in 96 and Penrith in 21 bounce back and win the title
- Manly in 97 are unbackable favourites for the premiership, end up getting beaten in the GF by the team they beat earlier in the finals (and don’t forget that there’s a huge death in the royal family right around semi-final time in 97 too)
