I get the club's frustration, Many don't have a $1m at short notice to pay the players. So need a resolution, The players and NRL hold up is the one they should be trying to stop

That is linked to it, Can't renew licences without the CBA.
Though come Dec 1 they need to pay players, Any spare cash the clubs had would of gone to buying Merchadise to flog off over Christmas. So I doubt some if not all have $1m just sitting there to pay players come December too.

TON v SAM Rugby Union - SAM won 4/8 (50%) with 1 draw (13%)
TON v SAM Rugby League - TON won 3/5 (60%)
Keep in mind that in Rugby Union last year Eng v Ton was 69-3 and NZ v Ton was 102-0

Conversely for Australia, New Zealand and England match ups:

AUS v NZ Rugby Union - AUS won 4/29 (14%) with 2 draws (7%)
AUS v NZ Rugby League - NZ won 4/13 (31%)

AUS v ENG Rugby Union - ENG won 12/14 (86%)

There's really not much difference in competitiveness between AUS, NZ, ENG, TON and SAM in either rugby code. The more England and New Zealand beat the Kangaroos the greater the value of international footy becomes. Yes there is more to do on the international front but a big part of the battle is perception.

Ideally they buy the cricket that ch7 sells so they have experience with running regular sport, Not so much for those who can afford Pay TV. FTA exposure is almost as important as the cash increase, Especially if a new market is team 18.

A League and Super Rugby changed and struggled.
Cricket too hasn't reached great heights at 7
The only outlier with that is the Tennis but Australian's doing well likely skewes those figures

The reasoning AFL used for not going to them is valid, Hopefully the risk drops across the next few years
