Tell us again how PNG, a county where 40% of the population lives under the poverty line, is going to be a giant success, but Perth and Adelaide will fail unless they commit to carrying the dead corpse of the Bears around.

Next you'll be telling us that there're 10k Dirty Reds fans in Sydney just waiting for the opportunity to support their club in the big leagues again by buying a membership.
Being disingenuous to the sydney away fans of the local 9 sydney clubs who might be supporting the bears as the dolphins showed tonight, don't need to be all rusted on fans, just need to be supportive or have the opportunity to see the old brand and become supportive... it easier for a perth team to start up and become "Perth" but link it with some legacy of the old heritage foundation brand, and maybe there is some away support to bolster it too,
You guys seem to think its will fail for some insidious notion that they'll base themselves back at NS, its quite the opposite, they were dudded by the manly faction that did that, why would they lower themselves to that detrement?
In the end the narrative is whatever perth wants..
But this forum has been deluded by what PR thinks Perth deserve... which is incorrect, they deserve a NRL team yes!, but they haven't gone to any lengths to grow the game on thier own back with their own funds or compete or grow a competition that can rival anything close to an SG ball team.. if the bears are willing to facilitate home games there, take that opportunity to grow the game, as it once had when the reds started, then build a home grown rival to challenge them... Western Australia is big enough to have 2 NRL teams... hurry up fkwitz, get on with it

Meaning the broadcast value ( ratings numbers) attending fans and merchandise will not match or exceed the grant, not even close. Meaning they will be a net loss to the NRL and in the millions per year outside of the initial outlay.

Last year the Bulldogs and Tigers generated less revenue from football operations than they received from the annual grant.

Sharks regularly generate less from football operations than they receive from the annual grant.

Why aren't you advocating their removal from the competition?

I tell you what, if the Bear's 'legacy' is so invaluable why don't your Panthers (right?) pick it up.

That way nobody is being forced to take on the Bears brand whom doesn't really want to, you guys get all those wonderful benefits of merging with the Bears, and the Bears get their team back. Everyone's a winner, right?!

Of course would never happen, because the cons outweigh the pros, all the clubs know that, and Penrith fans would never, ever, accept it. Yet you, other Penrith fans like you, and other Sydney fans in general, have the gall to try and force those whom you believe don't have the power to resist to accept burdens they'd never take on themselves...

BTW, Billy Moore more or less confirmed their intention to increase the amount of games played at NSO... There's no playing coy anymore, the 1 or 2 games minimum at NSO is a lie, and no other market should be forced to accept sacrificing even a single game to NSO in the first place anyway.

Not yet, and I'll believe it when they run out. If they do, it'll still be a shit call.
Again you fail to see the possibilities of what could be over what is, how long did it take before the cows got their bankwest stadium setup... they played in a dump for 24 years, the players had to lay the turf in their first year.... the population in Townsville was only 113k in '95
Granted they became the team of the "NORTH QLD" region, and pulled from all areas surrounding of it, i dont see Cairns being any different, besides its a base area, much like Wollongong is for the dragons.
Put a team there that isn't heavily reluant on the cowboys talent area, and pull from PNG, and its a winner.. like ive said before 4-6 games at barlow park is acceptable, whether they are proper home games or trials, the rest/bulk FIFO port moresby, its got Rugba Lieg written all over it!

If population and city areas was a major criteria RL would be in Perth, Wellington and Adelaide by now, but its obviously not, its all about pathways and growing the sport where we already play it... e.g PNG

We already have an NRL team, we already have a licence, mergers are a thing of the past, we are called the Penrith Panthers...
Whats the NRL Perth team? Yeah thought so, come up up with a better argument to plant your white flag on, besides your an old bears fan, f**k the the old board, dont you want to see the brand play again

Thank you for making my point.

Not at any cost. The end doesn't justify the means.

Besides, I don't know what the old board's got to do with anything, but 'the brand' plays every weekend, and I plan to watch them at 3pm.

Mergers haven't worked out well for our game. Fortitude Valley Diehards tried it in 87-88 with Tweed Heads Seagulls and in 1995 with Caboolture Snakes. Both entities failed. Fortitude Valley Diehards tried it again 20 years ago with the Pastoral Brothers Leprechauns. It failed.

St George Dragons and Illawarra Steelers has been a failure and is slowly reverting back to St George Dragons.

Western Suburbs Magpies and Balmain Tigers has been a shit show between two clubs who cannot find a middle ground.

North Sydney Bears and Manly Warringah Sea Eagles failed.

I see MugaB is still talking shit about Cairns.

You see "nothing" f**kwìt" remember you have everyone on ignore

Who the f**k started craping on about mergers anyway, i never brought up a merger, i said the bears should be picked up by whoever is in Perth, you halfwitz assumed that was a merger of some sort, and went on some tangent regarding mergers and penrith and norths, fmd tossers

You keep repeating the fallacy that the Cowboys support is only drawn from the city of Townsville.

It's not, never has been and never was. To remove the 2nd biggest city from their catchment would be a disaster.

Luckily for all involved, it will never happen.

We should re-admit the Bears so Sydney RL fans can have more opportunity to watch games.

How f**king cooked is that logic.

Thats not what i meant... but it would help the perth team being away, get more eyeballs/memberships and interest while they are away... thats all i meant
