Almost a guarantee i'd say,
Thats why i said you might aswell call the new team Northern Hunters or Pacific Pride,

i do remember a few years back you yourself argued with me that the northern pride was extremely cowboys entrenched in all things north qld, and it would be insane for them that they would partner with another team... your tune has changed over time i see
I recall the Cowboys favouring the Blackhawks over the Cutters and Pride a couple of seasons ago. That would be a good enough reason for the Pride to choose a PNG NRL team over Cowboys -- provided it is based in Cairns.

I'm really hoping the PNG bid gets the 18th licence. I was sceptical at first, but I'm now generally excited to see it work.

I'd love to see the QRL and PNGRFL amalgamate the Queensland Cup and Digicel Cup, with a team in Darwin and another from New Caledonia.

Wouldn’t that dilute the Q Cup? Which teams would make a merged comp, which would miss out??

Increase the competiton to 24 teams, split into conferences to reduce travel.

If there was a merger I'd have the Devils bought out by Tigers to become the Brisbane Devils. It will help the Tigers' NRL ambitions. Nundah doesn't need a Queensland Cup team.

Souths Logan Magpies become Logan Magpies.

Wynnum Manly Seagulls because Redland City Seagulls.

Redcliffe Dolphins become Moreton Bay Dolphins.

Tweed Heads Seagulls go to NSW Cup.

Burleigh Bears become Gold Coast Bears.

Keep the Sunshine Coast Falcons, Ipswich Jets, Toowoomba Clydesdales, Central Queensland Capras, Mackay Cutters, Northern Pride and Townsville Blackhawks.

Cowboys want to run their own Reserve side. So that leaves Northern Pride to fend for themselves

Redland, Ipswich and Logan are based on the south side. Moreton Bay is based on the north side.

Brisbane Tigers have better facilities than Norths Devils.

North side already has 2 NRL teams. South side has none.

Broncos aren't a north side team though, anyone who understands Brisbane RL knows this.

Sigh.

So if the Broncos aren't a north side team -- despite being based in the inner north west -- then why are you referring to the Tigers as a south side team?

Broncos are based further north than Western Suburbs Panthers.

Wynnum Manly Seagulls are east-north-east of the CBD, BTW.

The Broncos represent all of Brisbane, their Leagues club just happens to be north of the river. The Tigers are East Brisbane, which is a suburb south of the river. One is a capital city team, the other is a suburban team.

Wrong.

The Brisbane Tigers are not from the suburb of "East Brisbane". They're from the suburb of Coorparoo and represent the eastern suburbs of Brisbane.

Total bias on my behalf (but from spending most of my free time in the area) but I think Tweed belongs in our comp- they’re so much closer to most of the QRL teams, add to our broader talent pool and I don’t think the NSWRL have any interest in supporting Northern Rivers RL.

All but for some random line demarcated in the 19th Century to make the colonial governments happy, the region is a part of our broader region more so than anywhere else.

same difference, still a suburban team. The point is the Broncos are not a suburban team.

Coorparoo is not East Brisbane. You accused me of not knowing anything about rugby league in Brisbane, yet you don't know which suburb the Tigers are based!

Broncos are a business and do not care about developing the game at the junior level. They slap their logo on the grounds of their affiliated Queensland Cup teams and feed them a few players. Their administration has been lazy and arrogant to the point they led the world's largest and richest rugby league club to a wooden spoon in 2020.

It's not the QRL's job to grow rugby league in the Northern Rivers.
