Noted in the below article was that rugby Australia didn't support Melbourne consortium because identity of businessmen backers were unknown. Seems eerily similar to noises from certain camps about entering a team in the NRL.
Red flags when backers don't come forward..

Rugby Australia’s key issues with the Rebels consortium rescue deal.

  • Identities of consortium members were not disclosed

When I saw that in the article I instantly thought of the Perth consortium led by Cumins.

Lol, one of the other points of conjecture was an overestimation of sponsorship & game day takings. No wonder Vlandys isn't taking calls!!
Perth Rat reckons a Perth-based team will generate $20-25m revenue from an attendance average of 15-18k and 25k members. He doesn't have a clue.

If he gets a team and then the moment if fails to live up to his claims I will laugh my guts out.

They'll never get a team. League has good administration. Successful bids will need backing like east tigers, norths etc.

I have lost faith in V'landys, TBH. He's spent the last 12-18 months pushing all sorts of nonsense to generate media attention. He's a media tart like Peter Beattie.

At first he wanted a Pasifika team based in Cairns and playing games in Samoa, Tonga, Fiji, PNG, NZ and Cairns. PNG cracked up about his proposal, so he amended it to be a PNG team that will be fully funded by the Australian tax payer, with players getting tax cuts to entice them to play for the team. All of this has been played out during a cost of living crisis that has people struggling to put food on the table and pay their rent. It's not good optics and will upset those who are feeling the pinch.

Do you think a working single mother who struggles to pay the rent and is living on handouts will be happy to hear that any tax she pays will be going towards footballers who earn hundreds of thousands per annum while living in a secure compound and getting tax cuts?

The only people who are supportive of NSW Labor's proposal are rusted on rugby league fans who have a grudge with AwFuL and/RU.

The Queensland state election will give us a better idea of how Queenslanders react to this proposal. If Queensland Labor are voted out in a blood bath then federal Labor MPs in Queensland will start to get nervous. Queensland has always been a crucial state that decides federal elections. Labor only wins federal elections when Queenslanders swing towards Labor. The last thing Labor can do is allow a dumb NSW Labor policy from 2018/9 to turn Queenslanders against the party.

The only winner out of this ordeal is PNG and V'landys. The latter got to strut around the White House with two old dickheads who don't know what they're doing (Albo and the sick hair sniffer with dementia). If my suspicions come true then the PNG deal will be pulled after it runs out. V'landys will be long gone by then. Whoever takes his place will be left to clean up the mess.

Another dumb thing V'landys did was rule out Wellington as a contender for NZ2.

His comments about looking at a second team in Melbourne because the Dolphins have been successful in Brisbane were just plain dumb. It's as if he doesn't know anything about rugby league outside of Sydney.

If the WA Gov throw enough money at V'landys (for a team) he will take it. If they saddle up with the Bears he'll bring them in.

Union forum Pipsqueak.
Sounds like it's a de-railment, also sounds like we have a bit of a fixation with png actually crossing the line to be 18th team ahead of and instead of the east tigers of Logan city... settle down the salt gronk, if you really hate Perth that much I'm sure you can voice your opinions to your local Labor MP

Easts tigers, Norths, dolphins will be in for long haul. That's why they get preference from NRL. Plastic model like rebels / titans nothing but trouble.

Non-plastic Norths got themselves into financial trouble before, whereas the plastic Broncos have always been one of the game’s strongest clubs. Our ‘plastic’ expansion clubs are some of the game’s biggest clubs.

How are the Adelaide rams, hunter mariners going?! Bears were kicked out of comp 20 years ago & still going. Dolphins saw their competition relegated to being a feeder system, yet got to the NRL 35 years later. These groups are here through good & bad..

What do you think would happen if the Broncos were kicked out of the comp? Their fans would fight for them. ‘Plastic’ clubs become ‘real’ clubs, it takes time to build a following.
