A Quick Rinse

Cowboys Semi 2022 X2 , Roosters Semi 2023, Dogs game Lasy year X2 , Warrior game last year, this game this year X2

This is the part that f**ks me off the most about it.
They have had ample opportunity to work on it.

Aside from the ones you mention, there have been countless times where we are up by 6-12 and at the business end. A field goal would put the match to bed. And yet no one even thinks of having a crack.

We can all point our fingers at whoever we like amongst the players but, at the end of the day, it gets back to one thing - the coach has not deemed it worthy of addressing and working on.

It has been painfully obvious for nigh on three seasons now we need to control those moments better.
And he's done nothing about it.

AFP.

yeah, cos he was 40 meters away and he took people by suprise

and he missed.
so. a miss is a miss is a miss

And therein lies a major part of the problem.
We always wait until it is absolutely necessary to have a shot, and always on the last.

Why not have a shot when there's 5 or 6 minutes to go?
Or longer.
And earlier in the tackle count.
You know, when no one is overly expecting it.

Teams know how to defend us once it gets to field goal time.
Just keep herding our runners to the side, tackle after tackle.
Lord knows we won't try to straighten it and have a crack early.

Even better, just concede ground early in the count so we keep hitting it up and end up a metre or two from the try line on the last.
That way the defence only need to sprint 7-8 metres to charge it down.

In the immortal words of Walter Sobchak - a bunch of f**king amateurs.

I thought Tuks went ok but looking at stats he had 1 run in 27 min of football. Heap of tackles but f**k me we arnt using him right.

At the end of the day, we have a “million dollar” halfback who can’t even set up for a field goal. Twice.

That or he doesn’t have the trust and respect of his teammates for them to pass it him when he wants it.

We have so many problems it’s not funny.

Ennis suggested in the commentary that they go for a field goal with about 10 to go.

I wouldn't back them to defend that. But there were numerous opportunities with less time on the clock. I reckon mentally they don't back themselves to defend it either. They were just hoping they'd be gifted a 4 or 6 pointer. No killer instinct that's for sure.

I don't think we have heaps of problems. That game could have been tied up with smarter play or even more assertive/aggressive play. Same as Canberra.

600pm game Friday night - perfect for me. No Kayo for me and probally still working anyways - another great effort from the NRL.
Good option for you. Take a month off. It will help.
On the team, the one word that stands out is effort. Lacking big time. Not sure what is going on, but it’s lacking hard.
So true on effort. That Da Silva try we just all stood there pulling our puds while he ran through and f**ked the prom queen. Just wanted it more.

We’re seeing this often, particularly when the ball hits the ground - we have nobody busting a bollock to be the one to get there and dive on it. That competitive hunger - we don’t have that.
We desperately miss a boss on the pitch, someone who’d dish out a spray to one of their team mates for running too wide on a field goal set up, for not being urgent enough to dive on a loose ball, for a ridiculous ball strip in golden point. Where’s the bloke holding these dickheads to account for dishing up such shithouse efforts.
None of our team are worried about consequences - they’re not worried about getting a bake (because nobody does it), they’re not worried about being dropped (because nobody gets dropped) and they’re not worried about losing (because ‘it was a good effort’).
