So if the Roosters had the equivalent of the G8 GDP in cap space after clearing all those superstars last year, why are we at a point where we're purging some of their highest paid now?

I'm gonna need their LU accountants to weigh in.

Obviously David Fifita is on his way, but he'll be playing for a packet of chips and a can of coke. Where's the rest of it going?

I suspect its also to upgrade and extend certain players to keep them from hitting the open market (e.g. Whyte, Steep, Foketi, Toby Rodwell).

Added to this. I seem to recall at the start of the season the Roosters only had something like 26 players signed up in their 30 man squad. Maybe they filled those spots already?

Any chance the Roosters are trying to get DCE in this year? That’s the only thing I can think of considering how erratic they’ve been here.

Would be a f**king shit thing to do to Manly after his time there but DCE is only about DCE.
Absolutely none and this has only got a run because certain social media sites have misinterpreted the Knights wanting Young this year with the roosters wanting DCE this year due to a segment on NRL360

It's not even clear that the roosters want DCE at all.

It's to upgrade some of the players this year under this year's cap. The other consideration that isn't getting a run is that everyone is going on about DCE but this could all be about Joey Manu.

I'm completely unsurprised that now the roosters looked to have turned the corner form wise we are all of a sudden experiencing cap pressure according to the media and other salary cap experts.

Only took 8 weeks.

I might be high on prescribed opioids but I'd still be ok if Parra took a punt on Fifita for the right price.

I've often wondered how he'd go outside a genuine halfback for every week...yeah he's lazy but his attacking game is elite when he's on and I don't think the Titans have ever really had a player in the halves who can really use him, either.

To me, Fifita seems like the new version of Dave Taylor - physically very talented and skillful, but rarely puts in the effort.

They were apparently also trying to move on Daniel Tupou (and I suspect would have tried harder if Young wasn’t happy to go back to the Knights). Something is definitely up. For all criticism of the Roosters they don’t generally treat their long-standing players with the same disregard.

In 2022-2024 you'd scream at the TV watching the Titans in the red zone. Not much has changed.

One thing to call Fifita lazy. Another to watch them pounce down to the redzone and not feed the ball to Fifita once...the bloke would end up diving over from dummy-half due to the incompetence of the Titan's spine. At times it was far worse than 50/50 blame, the Titans have absolutely failed to use Fifita well.

That's b/s. They haven't tried to move him on at all.

You didn't answer the question.

We don't want them anymore so why wouldn't we offload them if they have other options?
I'm not the one claiming everyone is jealous of what and expertly run organisation the Roosters are because they're apparently on the up.

Well run organisations don't pay overs for players and then purge them to other clubs and continue to pay half their salary.

I didn't say anyone was jealous of anything

Both recruitments are a fail, there is no doubt on that. Paying half their salary still saves money though, so if they can get a buyer, why wouldn't they get rid of them?

Brother remember Phil Gould is running your club and read that second sentence again
