This Lawson selection kind of just came out of nowhere in some respects but it's a very exciting prospect. I was keen to see Tuipolotu come back because I think we've really missed his strong runs out of trouble, his work rate and finishing, but glad Nathan will get his go.
Many have said he is not ready but I am predicting Lawson will take this opportunity with both hands and will be able to retain his spot. I feel it is a good time and opposition for him debut.
Should probably wait and see but I can't help but speculate a little. For me, this puts Suli and Sloan even more under the microscope.
Much has been made of Sloan's underwhelming yo-yoing form, but in my opinion Suli has even less impacts on games. We all know he is good for the occasional poor defensive lapse, just as we know he is strong and powerful but he is not an constant threat or a dynamic player, not half as much as Holmes, and I can't remember the last time he crossed the try line. I love the idea of Suli but it is wearing a little thin as the team looks to find the necessary improvements needed. I don't feel the coach sees it this way but it needs noting.
