Was at the match and LKT is very sharp and passes fast crisp balls.

Lawson was impressive. I don’t believe that Sloan was outplayed by his opponent winger but he needs to bring more. He is genuinely a high end speedster. His no try was a beautiful shape passing movement. Suli‘s last pass was timed well and Sloan’s tremendous speed got to the corner but ball popped out in the drive over.

Val Holmes had a mixed game. His no try was a scrambling sprint chase where his high end speed got around the outside of the Newcastle guy; but the ball was a low awkward bounce. Holmes got hold of it but it slipped out just as he got it so close to grounding. Happened right in front of me. At least his goal kicking was sound.

Kyle F may be an average first grader but a good defender. His double pump even got a limping Sua through for first try without a hand laid on him. Kyle has bulked up since last year.

Perhaps the forum members may remember that Jayden Sua had a bad ankle injury and out 9 weeks in his first year with us ( caused by hip drop type tackle by JWH rosters game). I hope it hasn’t stirred up an old injury.

Ok,driving to a wedding and the missus needed to do some work, so I missed the kickoff.

20 mins behind the start I log on… and open the esky.

big smile on my face. Was glad for Win, but a fe notables

1) klemmer stepped up
2) big boy Blake playedmhis best game in 18 months
3) Lawson had a solid debut
4) LKT has always looked solid, bat im seeing glimpses
5) and my absolute favourite ”BIG Loko” gets down low and mosters his Wahlberg the line and ignores the defence to push the ball down! So so nice!

Took care of business. If Sloan doesn’t drop the ball over the line score probably ends up 30-40 nil. You have to give the knights some credit, despite them having an abysmal attack there defence this season has been quite good. Thought we did an outstanding job on sharpe who is an absolute monster at fullback. Definitely heading in the right direction. Perfect time for us to go on a run here

Start the post match messages.
Huge game by Klemmer! Best I’ve seen in a years.
Lawson great on debut! Will be very close to taking Sloan’s spot! He’s safe under the highball.
Thought that was LKT best game. Very lively on the ball and looked threatening .
Hopefully sua injury isn’t bad, rolled ankle. Fingers crossed some rest & recovery will heal it.
I’ll have to look at the game again, thought LKT just went through the motions? Hasn’t got any zip to threaten the line ?

We do need better halves. The excuse long used regarding our forward pack not being up to it, hasn't been the case for our last two games.

For 2026
Ilias and Glover need to be let go and replaced in reserve grade by Reed.

Atkinson's arrival will hopefully sort out some of the problems however, I still believe we should recruit a top-grade halfback. I fell Reed and Atkinson will be our long-term halves.

CT and Lawson should be our preferred wingers. Work on the attack plan for our centers needs to be undertaken soon. For now, Suli should be selected at 17 on the bench, with one of our bright young centers promoted to the first grade. If Ramsey is promoted to fire grade in 2026, he or Gatherson may fill a center position if required.

If we at least one alpha prop, our forward pack will be consistently competitive. Our young forwards will learn from such a player. Although Kleemmer and Lawrie both played to their full potential against Newcastle. Toga, Stewart and Couchman are a fine example of the quality of young forwards coming through.

What a great buy Dave Klemmer has been. His stats last night were insane for an old fella :) In fact all our forwards were great last night and certainly dominated the Newcastle pack.
Last night was the first match he's run for more than 100 meters for us.

He needs to produce that consistently to be considered a 'great buy' IMHO

I was at the game last night and a few things to notice
Glover had a great game in NSW Cup, and Ilias didnt. Why you would let Glover go is beyond me
Sloan tried to take a catch he didnt need to take and Newcastle almost scored. Only an infringement denied them a try. Then he dropped the ball over the line a la Sua. Basically he needs to go back to NSW Cup and learn how to play. Hes a liability when we clearly now have much better wingers available
De Belin was unbelievable last night and definitely needs resigning. He played so hard all game. As soon as he came on we changed.
Val dropping the ball appears to be a consistency now. Dont know how you fix it but something needs to be done. It’s several times every game now
Kyles kicking game is just rubbish. No hang time and totally pointless. We never bother opponents with it like they bother us. Surely someone else can kick better than this crap- after last night i know Glover can
The end was heart stopping but im glad we hung on. The ref for once certainly helped us. Nothing beats a win at Jubilee and both grades winning was a great night

Sloan is a waste. He has so much natural talent but not heart to do the tough stuff.
Sadly I am starting to think you are right about this @possm . I believe Sloan is a wonderful young man, and he some natural skills, but his inability to get "down and dirty" in the tough times indicates that he will not reach his potential. Lawson showed more gumption in one game than Sloan has shown all year!

I don’t think it’s a matter of “letting Glover go” i think it’s more of glover wanting more game time and not sure we can give that with the incoming of Atkinson , with LKT. And Kyle.
illias is signed to end of 2026. Though I think he’ll leave IF he doesn’t get back into first grade.
yes Val makes some silly handling errors though he does bring some spark to us .
and as mentioned last night Sloan’s had multiple chances. His attacking power can’t help his poor catching and meters made. Would be making the swap for Lawson.
