How was everything not sweet though? Is there another issue I’m unaware of outside of Leniu being racist and Thurston saying racism is bad? Are we saying that Leniu’s problem was that Thurston continued to do his job in the normal manner?
Well that’s what Leniu is saying, yes.

Whether we think he’s being fair is another matter. But according to him, that’s what triggered his sideline rant. Not the initial criticism.

I just don’t see any meaningful difference. If Leniu sees Thurston as having some sort of beef with him, as opposed to just being a normal functioning human being who is opposed to racism, then that shows he completely fails to comprehend the issue. That’s the whole point I’m making.

Like, if Leniu thinks that everyone who abhors what he did should ‘keep that same energy’ then logically he should assume that he has beef with everyone. Either that, or he assumes everyone else (particularly those closest to him who presumably support him) is also racist.

We’re off topic here but I’m sure someone will tell us to stop if it gets tiresome. Until then…

I'm comfortable that Leniu (belatedly) realised what he said to Mam was wrong. Took him a while, but he seemed to eventually get there. The fact he offered to fly himself to Brisbane to meet him supports that.

As far as why he still thinks JT did him wrong though… there were reports he also felt Thurston’s silence on Mam’s own incident showed a degree of double standards. Leniu himself never said that though (as far as I know anyway) but maybe that plays a part too.

So he sat on a pre meditated response for a week, and the day after dropping it apologises to the family. Wow
I honestly don't think he planned to use Green's name, got heated in the moment, had thought about him in the context of what his message was before he arrived at the presser then it unfortunately came out. There's no way he says that pre planned. He is smart enough to know that would land poorly and would hurt the family.

And this is me saying this, I immensely dislike everything Melbourne.
