The hard calls made on older players do all seem to have been correct.

The calls have been awesome. Paulo has improved on 2024 while RCG and Matterson have declined. Cartwright has been mediocre in NSW Cup. He has been outplayed by Keir and Latu.

That’s a fair perspective but there’s a difference between refusing to accept mediocrity and not recognising when deeper structural issues are at play. If the system underneath isn’t strong poor development, recruitment misfires, no succession planning then no amount of "standards" or tough talk changes the outcome.

The club did refuse to settle from 2009 to 2017, but without fixing the foundation, it led to constant chopping and changing without real progress. Sometimes acknowledging those deeper issues is the first step to actually breaking out of the cycle....

In regards to expenditure, I understand that once the NRL football clubs revenues from the NRL grant, sponsorships and memberships basically covered all expenses the Leagues Club board consolidated its business over a year or more.

They then advised the football club that as their charter was to support junior rugby league in the district they were in a position to increase expenditure in that area by multiples. The work done by the League club board shouldn’t be underestimated , and in a sense the new football club board is now filled with professional members that are more focussed on controls and revenue expenditure they saw it as a natural progression.

That is awesome. Hopefully it translates to improved long term NRL success.

How about Coinakis? He is built like Cameron Smith and about as slow. Does he have anything close to the physical strength or playmaking ability of #Cam365?

You saw the difference in PLC funding between 2020 and 2024. You even quoted it. How can you claim they've always had the funding?

As Maxwell Smart said , we are missing signing players “ by that much” . Hopefully that’s a thing of the past as so many are now saying on here that’s nothing is the recruitment teams fault.

We managed to sign the squad that made the finals for four straight years. We signed a bunch of merkins after 2018. Why would we be unable to sign players now?
