Sad thing is that Mal is probably player raiding the bottom of the table Titans…given his previous involvement there …. So very Rugby League…
Not true. Re: Titans. They have good kids coming through whose NRL grade pathways will be blocked by the priority resigning of blokes like Kini & AJ plus a few outside backs ie De Groot and AKP.

Looking at Tino. A lot of clubs will be looking at him. Fifita, he seemingly wants out anyways.

Surplus players outside week to week 17. Most don’t get given a go. Junior catchment of GC sits around 6,500-7,000 and Titans have criminally underperformed in their pathways for years to bring those green shoots through.

Why would there be a gentlemen’s agreement between specifically between Perth and Penrith?
And between who? The NRL and Panthers?
Im sure the other clubs will be pleased to hear of the NRL's favourtism if thats the case lol
There’s gentleman’s agreements between many clubs for various things that we never hear about. There’s always a give and take. Roosters, for example have a vast amount of commercial handshakes in place.

Correct. The guy has also been overseeing development however he has had his hands tied behind his back in that regard.

GC has more to do with the untapped player resource than the actual Titans themselves. I only mention the Titans because it’s their “catchment”. It could also be the kick up the arse that they need to start taking things abit more seriously.

I’ve been saying for months. There’s a big push by a few QLDers to ensure Perth Bears has strong ties in both RL states.

Jack Cole - who is available from 2027. Rumour mill is that he might cross the Nullarbor with Ben Gardiner (if Ben comes). Jack will end up being surplus to the Panthers by the end of 2026. He is a good player who has unfortunately had injuries cruel progress on and off at periods during the last 3 years.

Speaking on SENQ Breakfast, Meninga made it clear that his focus is on the team's identity and culture.

"I don’t start until the 1st of July, obviously there’s a lot of planning that goes into it all," he said.

"[I want to] make sure I’m really clear on what a Perth Bear person is."

The Bears can begin negotiating with players who are off-contract from November 1, but with clubs scrambling to lock up their key talent before that date, Meninga and his staff will have to go above-and-beyond to start inking deals.

"In the back of your mind, you would like to get everyone," he said.

"You would love to obviously be in a conversation with them and communicate with them and hopefully they see some value in going over to Perth.

"The thing about Perth is, what's our sell proposition?

"If I go talk to someone like Kalyn [Ponga] who was born over there, how do I convince him to uproot himself and his family and move over there and participate in the pioneering of the game?

"What do I sell? It’s a great place to live obviously, it’s sunshine, beaches, all those sorts of things.

"It’s a great family community over there but what is the value proposition?

"So, all those sorts of things will need to be sorted out first before we can actually start talking to players."

The Perth Bears project marks a significant challenge for the NRL, which will require them to hit the ground running when they join the competition in 2027.

Meninga's reputation and passion for the game make him a compelling figure to lead the charge on the west coast.

I'd take Cobbo as FB. We need to be negotiating with players now or there'll be little left come November. NRL learnt nothing from the Dolphins.
dolphins have been doing pretty good, they have a very balanced squad. seriously i doubt you watch much footy sometimes because your opinions seem like that of someone who doesnt watch the very thing he comments on.

their finishing ladder positions could be better however theyve had big injuries at key times every season that they have been around. they are always competitive too.

their 2023 roster was good.

Taken them 3 years to build a winning team.
First two years w20 L28
I'd rather we hit the ground running.

so you clearly dont watch games, fair enough. by the way they were winning from the start, they had been cruelled by injuries to key positions during long spells since they came in and they still are competitive each game. thats culture and whats what you build a club on.

its almost like your expecting a storm like entry. they were the exception to expansion, not the norm. understand what the norm is and be happy if bears are doing with phins are doing. any one who watches the game will get it.

They were exactly the norm, finished in lower positions like most clubs. Be nice not to have be the norm though and not start out with first two years with more losses than wins. They look good this season after having three years to build a squad.
