It’s funny a pommie rugby league journo thinks afl getting 418 million pa from fox is perfectly ok but nrl negotiating with them is bad

But then again he works for the roar who post rubbish articles about rugby league

Oh great, another alt account.

Pretty easy to spot.

Offers zero to the conversation attacks a poster, my tip is Moron Matt

Though on this, the amount of people who think it is just black and white is crazy.

There are heaps more that goes into whether NRL is viable as a TV product or not for the networks

And only ever posts in expansion, tv rights and crowd threads. Easy sign that it's the same person setting up all the alt accounts.

Behind the click baitey headline it’s a positive article about nine going up against a cashed up Dazn / Fox

Nothing article. In the three year deal, Nine is paying $60 million annually, while Optus is still contributing at $40 million a year. Nine is not paying the full cost of the rights.

Nine is also chasing the rights to Formula One.

At any price? Of course it is viable to a point.
I thought you would throw that $ qualifier in. Why dont you just say/admit its the most valuable product on Australian TV & deserves top dollar.

Instead so many comments here attempt to make the glass half full or empty analogy redundant as you lot wont even fill the glass on the baseless fear of it leaking.

You know Seven has its budget lock-up with AFL, but you know that already. Ten which has gone broke or in receivership in under ten years ago and is now owned by Paramount Global /CBS TV USA. Network 10 make just enough revenue to pay for the rights package they buy off their Owners. Unfortunately a die in the wool AFL woman runs the place (from Sydney). Vlandy has to go over her head, however good news at this point as the Paramount/Sky Dance merger is nearly complete, then maybe over top meetings could take place. One has to pitch it to US head(s) if any bid comes from them. This is the pitch 'take the NRL and become ( at least) the second best rated Tv network' instead of coming last! Good sport $$'s for the PayTv Australia and even in USA. At least take a minor package of 2 FTA games and 2 PayTv. (for Paramount+) Even go to WOMAN boss- at least you get a decision, which Vlandy can escalate up to the USA bosses. Maybe see ESPN, which are now in Australia and who are the biggest SPORTS rights owner worldwide. They can't have the full package anyway buts what stopping them getting a 4 PyTv games set. . Let them bid for the Friday 2 games and Sunday 2 games. So we sell multiply times: Nine , Network 10, Foxtel/Kayo AND ESPN. This works when say Nine play hard ball ( if they are going for what they have now and won't pay big) and only sightly increase $$ bid, Bring in Ten, the same with Foxtel/kayo if they don't play record amount, fine we also sell to ESPN as well as to you. WE DECIDE EXCLUSIVITY
