he'd also probably make a very good ball playing lock

You wonder if he was running it back inside with some pace and he had the ability to defend in the middle. I just can't see him doing that for 80 minutes a game over the course of the season. I think you may get some impact off him in that role though.

He has played way better than what I thought he could this season but he also doesn't fit in anywhere right now. Will the same thing happen if you play him at lock.

I still feel AD is a bit underestimated...apart from being a solid goalkicker ( and the occasional blooper) even though he's not a star he's shown what we've needed from the halves...structure .. attacking shape and PATIENCE! I have faith in Luai but I hope he took a (big) tip from Douehi yesterday.
* also he gives himself room... digs into the line and always looks to set his outside men up
** I may be seeing what I want to see..fuctifiknow
I don’t think Luai can change.. The game yesterday was won with 2 halves doing their job.. and a a win at all costs attitude driven by the leaders Twal as captain Toa, May and I think Sammy (Benji said) .. once Luai comes back that whole dynamic could change .. He would be head fked watching that game and he now has to tread carefully to not upset that whole team dynamic.. I dont think he can do it.. The synic in me predicts nsw lose then we lose against the warriors dramatically next week with Luai at 6 ..then AD comes back to 6 with Latu the following week against the titans.. he was that good ..Dont worry AD has a place on the team. He more than proved that yesterday
Benji knows it too . His words were “The way AD played allowed Latu to do his thing”.. Let’s see if Luai can do the same. If he can’t surely hes out

I heard Benji's comment on AD as a not too subtle tip to Luai. I'm pretty confident it'll be at the top of the whiteboard Thursday morning

I wouldn't have Douehi simply for the fact he's managed by Satan. I don't care what he offers or doesn't offer. AD knows that Satan has an agenda to f**k the Tigers sideways, for whatever reason. Anyone drawing breath and with half a functioning brain knows this.

Yet he decided to bring Satan on as his manager knowing all this. And not long after something apparently minor happens at training and it's all over the media in a negative way. Have a wild guess who would have briefed the usual media outlets that love rubbishing the Tigers.

Anyway that's what happens when you sup with Satan. Now he's not guaranteed go to another club in Australia next year, and even if he does it's unlikely he'll get an upgraded contract. After you take out Satan's 6% he'll probably be losing money.

I don't know how solid the rumour is, but the Eels are favourites.

Luai’s Tigers trigger date revealed as Bula’s manager begins gauging rivals
By Michael Chammas
July 7, 2025 — 7.30pm

Wests Tigers marquee man Jarome Luai has until April 30 next year to trigger a three-year option in his contract to remain at the club beyond the end of 2026.

While Wests Tigers chief executive Shane Richardson trumpeted Luai’s signing as a five-year deal, this masthead revealed his contract is for an initial two-year period, which expires at the end of 2026, with a three-year option in his favour to stay at the club until the end of 2029.

Luai has until the start of round nine next year to decide on his future, but is free to open negotiations with rival clubs on November 1 this year if he chooses to test the market. The Tigers remain hopeful the NSW five-eighth will recommit to the club.

The 28-year-old is enjoying life at the Tigers and is one of coach Benji Marshall’s staunchest supporters.

The Tigers have made it clear Marshall’s position is safe despite a recent run of six consecutive losses, which ended on the weekend with an impressive win over the Sydney Roosters.

By round nine next year, Luai will likely know whether the Tigers are planning to stick with Marshall in the long term, a move that would be looked upon favourably by their star playmaker.

It comes as Tigers fullback Jahream Bula has been tossed up to rival clubs as a prospective November 1 target.

Sources with knowledge of the situation talking on the condition of anonymity told this masthead that Bula’s manager, Isaac Moses, has already begun gauging interest from rival NRL clubs on behalf of his client.

Moses, who oversaw Lachlan Galvin’s tumultuous departure from the club this year, took over as Bula’s manager after his previous agent, Liam Ayoub, left the industry to join the Bulldogs as recruitment manager.

Ayoub oversaw the negotiation of Bula’s current deal with former Tigers chief executive Justin Pascoe. His contract includes a mutual option for the 2027 season.

If the Tigers decide to exercise the option, Bula will play the 2027 season on a salary of $900,000. If the Tigers decide against retaining Bula at that price, he has the opportunity of taking up a player option at $800,000.

Moses, however, will not earn any income from a contract negotiated by another agent and would only earn a percentage of Bula’s pay if he were to negotiate a new contract with the Tigers or a rival club.

If the Tigers don’t take up Bula’s option by November 1 this year, Moses can begin formal negotiations with rival clubs for the 2027 season.

The Tigers are also expected to begin discussions with South Sydney about the future of Jayden Sullivan. The playmaker still has two years to run on his deal with the Tigers, which is worth about $600,000 a year.

Wests Tigers agreed to release Sullivan on loan to the Rabbitohs this year, with Souths chipping in about $150,000 for his services.

The Rabbitohs have indicated they are willing to keep Sullivan at the club for another season but want the Tigers to make a similar financial contribution.

I want both of them to stay but I think the difference between Luai and our next best half (say AD) is chalk and cheese. I think Bula and Turuva are pretty close together in what they offer at the back.

Absolutely. It's what players can bring to the table hey.
A few of us were begging for Turuva to play at fullback when we threw Mason at the back instead.
Simply because Turuva offers a lot more and has a tad more experience...like playing in successful Panthers sides.
It had to take a game where our team was decimated with unavailable players against the rorters to actually play players in positions where there can be the most effective.
Turuva at fullback
Latu at ½
Staines wing
I'm not advocating the demise of Bula but we are starting to develop plan B's.
Side note....
I won't cop the criticism of young Laulilii. He played against the rorters through necessity and that's how it should be with these development players coming through. His fav position is at fullback. We now need to make a D to what position we want him to play in a year or two then put him in reserve grade to work on his trade until there's a spot available and he's ready. The same with Makasini however he's destined to takeover from AD at centre imo.

Re Sullivan tell him he can come back here but it will to be a cup half at best.
Re Bula if that talk of 700 - 900k is true then let him go. Put Tito at fullback and use the 700k or what ever Bula is on and sign good wingers with that cash. Yeah the press will cry but they will do the same if we keep him so who cares. You really want fox to leave us alone go down the Cameron Smith path he told 9 to piss off and for ages refused to speak to any 9 journo and they folded.

f**k being nice to these journos, it hasn't worked and never will. I say treat the media like the merkins they are Hire a pi to go tail Buzz. Watch how fast he backs off when we threaten to publish pics of him coming out of a brothel or something like that.

This is why Turuva is a great option for us at fullback. I really like Bula but he hasn't proven himself to be an elite player. I'm fine with Turuva playing fullback for us.
Bula is a good player, his defence is his weakest point, but in attack he goes pretty good for a kid playing in a mediocre side

I said I like him. He is good. I want him to stay. I also don't want to see another massive contract offer that gets knocked back. In stating that we have been significantly better off when these guys knock back those offers.

We need options. Turuva and LL are both options at fullback.
