Queensland play front foot football and it’s flat. The dummy half jumps out and they play over the advantage line. NSW sit deeper. I think Murray and Moses in the 13 and 6 will help; push Yeo to the middle rotation and Luai probably needs to go.

Hooker was a problem too; service was sh!t when Watson came on. Robson looked good when he scampered…

Cleary didn’t play well tonight; what was most disappointing was that his kicks were so one dimensional. Only one early tackle count kick and none in behind the line to break up the rushing defence. Oh well; he’ll just have to content himself with a 5th straight premiership.
I think a big issue was Cleary was so insistent on taking the ball into the line and running the block shape, just became so predictable and the rushing qld defence knew it was coming. I know Cleary is renowned for digging into the line but it severely hampered the time and space for his outside men, I think the biggest travesty was Critta was absolutely starved of any opportunity to get early ball and take Shibasaki on one on one.

The comparison between Madge & Laurie and how one is a coach and one is a media pundit couldn't be more obivous then the last 2 years in game 3 selections.

Game 2 last year - NSW put the cleaners through QLD by 40.

Go up to QLD for game 3 decider - Easy decision keep the same 17 - But Madge being a hard edge coach who makes tough decisions drops Haumole for Barnett to add some steel into the side for a match that would be a scrap. And it showed in the performance.

This year we get beat game 2 - Laurie straight away says nope i am sticking solid for the decider.

And everyone could see he only had to make 1 or 2 tweaks not wholesale changes. But it was the same old shit we saw in 2015, 2017.

Keeping things the same after a loss his too nice to drop blokes and be ruthless. He says he learnt a lot from his first time as coach.

But in reality he hasn't.

Slater won game 2 and still made changes just like Madge last year.

Bellamy has now been involved in 4 origin series and all ended up in embarrassing defeats.

Unless he gives up the Storm job i probably don't want him involved.
Being an origin coach is as much about firing your squad up and getting them in the mindset for the game. Selection is important and tactics less so - you have the games best players, they should be able to adapt on the fly. Madge can get players fired up for the game, that’s his strength, he just doesn’t really improve players. Daley seems to have the intensity of Joe Biden.

If Daley gets the flick I would look to someone like Hasler to replace him.

Hasler would be my pick, similar personality as Madge and won’t need an ‘advisor’.
Daley has shown time and time again he doesn’t have a feel for the momentum and how to use his players properly. He made a big song and dance about Max King and how King was this guy who did all the 1% but how do you expect someone like that to put their best foot forward if you’re only going to give them a 25 minute stint at the start of the game? Yeo has looked great at origin as a running middle forward playing 55-60 minutes but for some idiotic reason Daley decided to turn him back into a 80 minute ball playing forward. Martin has shown to be someone who you throw out there to rip and tear and go hard but when you leave him out there for 67 minutes straight he has to pace himself and won’t offer that same energy

Another master stroke was the constant kicking to Coates wing.
😂😂 the one bloke who can outjump everyone else on the field .
Brilliant tactics .
To be fair Lomax is the best aerial target in the game, I mean are you suggesting they should have been trying to get To’o to try out jump Holmes?
I think a bigger issue is not mixing up the kicks, every kick was pretty much a standard end over end bomb, no hig torps, no little chip kicks, Cleary looked like he was trying not to give away a 6 tackle set rather than kicking for a result

Just curious, on Lomax, did anyone notice his extreme deep breaths in the tunnel while waiting to run out for the game? To the point of almost looking like he was about to be hyperventilating.
I noticed it straight away and I just thought, this guy could have an absolute cluster f**k of a game because he looks like he's getting into his own head.

Not sure if it was the occasion or about the kicking.
Look I could be off, could be some breathing exercises he learnt along the way but it looked quite strange to me.

Just wondering if anyone else noticed it and did you read anything into it?

Yeah I noticed it. He looked to be on edge. Probably worried about his goalkicking which cost the Blues the series in game 2.

Nah constantly bombing Coates of all people was a shit tactic.

Hammer should have got much more traffic aimed his way

At least if (or, hopefully, when) Daley gets the tap on the shoulder from the powers-that-be at the NSWRL and moved on, he'll take it with grace and dignity. He'll be disappointed, sure, but he won't make a big song and dance about it.

And for all the criticism he's received over the past 24 hours (and the coming days/ weeks, deservedly so) he'll cop it on the chin. He'll never, ever use the tragic death of a beloved former coach as a deflection tactic to protect his own ego. It's not his go. He might be a dud coach, but he's not a complete piece of shit.

Unlike some...

King was fine off the bench, but is not a starter at origin level.

Stefano? Biggest fraud. Did SFA when he was picked by Fittler whilst he was playing at the Tigers, and reinforced that when picked this year. Should never be anywhere near a Blues jersey again until he shows regular, consistent good form over prolonged periods in first grade. He should have been dropped after Game 2, and Keon brought in to replace King as the starter for Game 3 with King back to the bench.

Again, another "Daley master stroke" in sticking with the same team for Game 3 after the awfulness of Game 2.

This is the problem with NSW, I honestly don't think he's been that good for Melbourne all year, yet he probably had one of those one off performances and suddenly NSW should pick him.

Too lazy and inconsistent
