Plenty of discussion points but reckon Papalii is our 5/8 moving forward and is going to do a great job and cement the position!

he is doing good! Just needs time and Ryles will give it to him. We are going to have a lot of speed in our spine! Very exciting!!!

Hope you’re right but at the moment he’s not really clicking. Something in his play that is stifling his attack. Happy though for him to have plenty of more shots this year.

Interesting prospect would be Hunter who looks like a real player. He comfortable on the ball. He looked good again today in reserves. Something about him!

I dont expect anything perfect straight away but there are signs he'll get there. That kick to the in goal on the 3rd was a good play. It'll be interesting to see how he goes with Moses.

I knew it was going to be tough against Penrith but too many errors and silly mistakes by the Eels. I dont know what goes through their heads sometimes but there were uncharacteristic errors in that game. Off loading to no one in their own half, passing to someone not ready for the ball, throwing the ball anyone thinking an Eels bloke would get there. If none of that happens in the first half then its a different game. Add to that why an earth would you attempt a 2 point field goal with still time on the clock ?

Honestly we desperately need Moses back not just at halfback but as a captain. Blokes are looking lost and lazy and there's no talk.

In a side lacking experience, sadly, it was some of our more experienced players who let us down.

I thought Paulo was poor, and Lomax was very bad defensively.

Also, what the hell was Lomax doing in the lead up to Alamotti's try? He dropped the ball, dropped his head, and kept jogging for another 10m - meanwhile, Penrith scoop up the loose ball, and race 40m up field.

Penrith scored that because Iongi had to make the tackle on the winter, and then was not able to get back in position quickly enough.

I expect better from Lomax.

Hope you are right but not overly confident. Guessing we aren’t seeing what he is capable of and he is adjusting to NRL. I don't think he is right at 6…and can’t really see a position for him. Maybe 14.

This sums up the season really, you can excuse the younger players making the errors but as you said the poor errors are from the older experienced players

And I dont know how many times this year they have dropped the ball or there's a loose ball and the opposition run away with it. Where's the urgency? And also when Lomax or someone taps it back from a ball, where is everyone else?

Cant have him at 14

14. Tds
15. Lucca
16. Walker
17. Joash

That'll be a wasted bench

So with Kitouga likely to miss a fair few weeks and considering Brown won’t see the 6 anytime soon what do we think Ryles goes with next game? I’d like to see something like this.

1. Iongi
2. Addo-Carr
3. Russel
4. Simonsson
5. Lomax
6. Papalii
7. Hawkins/Moses (if fit)
8. Hopgood
9. Smith
10. Paulo
11. Williams
12. Guymer (I’d prefer Samrani)
13. Brown

14. TDS
15. Walker
16. Doorey
17. Tuivaiti
Pretty much my side but hopgood should be in NSW cup.

Putting on my tin foil hat for a second, I can't understand why we don't get more favourable decisions from the officials. We're battling to stave off the spoon once again yet only the Wahs managed a better crowd this weekend, and they've sold out every game for a year.
It's obvious the NRL has a mandate and officials make assumption-based decisions depending on the team, so why wouldn't it be in the game's best interests to have Parra competitive and 30,000 at CommBank every other week?!
Yes we made a ton of dumb errors, but the officials absolutely refereed both sides differently yesterday which potentially influenced the result.

We can piss and moan about the ref all we want but just we ain't good enough atm.

Until we get rid of the dumb errors the referee's ain't my real concern.

Its been known for ages the teams on the bottom don't get the 50/50s until we get ourselves off it were going to have to cop it.

The try on halftime should have been stopped it was 1 play that had to be stopped.

From that moment we crumbled once we got behind on the scoreboard.

The JAC play the ball was the 2nd time he has been pinged for that this year and both times the ref was Peter Gough as it happened at Magic Round very early on against the Sharks in the first 10-15 mins and the Sharks scored straight after.

Now surely next time we get Gough as the ref.

Ryles/Coaches/JAC should be all over this attention to detail stuff.

Because clearly Gough has on his little tip sheet when he is ref that JAC doesn't play the ball correctly so his looking for it more then other players. His the only ref that has pinged him this year.

Someone told me last night he actually got warned once before he pinged so its not that hard to fix.

I thought that the game was within reach yesterday and faded when Brown went off. He should have played 80 in some other capacity. Walker was lock but doing 5/8 stuff to compensate for Joash and maybe Brown should have taken over that rotation.

Yes ultimately it was the errors / low completion rate that gave Penrith way too much opportunity and momentum after oranges.

If I am dropping players it’s to eliminate errors, but not to bring in a player from reggies for the sake of it. Guymer gets hate, but nobody in reggies is going to make 54 tackles.

Samrani played on the edge in Cup and was average. He was trying to throw passes in the grapple and they were ending up on the grass. Gideon looks like he might have f**ked something, so maybe he gets a chance anyway.

Jack will get suspended apparently ? and Luca is not ready.

That's it. Coz we have built up all this lack of discipline our refs tip sheet is huge

You can't expect a normal ref to remember both teams to sheet

Yesterday's game is the one that has concerned me the most all year.

It has been easy to see the "through line" of all Ryles' decisions this year and as frustrating as some losses have been, we can see the end goal.

But yesterday seemed to indicate that Ryles himself is fumbling in the dark a bit at this point.

The game plan was wrong for the players we have out there and the stage of their careers - this means that he either persisted with a game plan that is not right for the playing staff, or he needs new playing staff.

If it is the former, then it is a sign that he is misreading the development of the players, because the wrong game plan and structure can inhibit their development. If it is the latter, we are not seeing much by way off an enhancement of the roster at this point.

There is time and I get we must be patient, but yesterday was a real concern.

Even when Moses is in the team, we tend to play split halves

I think joash needs more space when he gets the ball. It doesn't look like he's s run threat when he gets the ball as it's too congested

Cleary and katoa gets alot of ball irrespective of which side theyre on.

I think when Moses is back we need to start throwing away split halves play and have a dominant half

Otherwise, the 6 should goto footy dean

I'm having a shot at Poupou Escobar and his statistical misreadings of the ebb and flow of a game through the distorted lens of an excel workbook.
I was at the game, but even on telly it would’ve been obvious that completion rates were the difference between the teams. It’s why we ran out of gas in the second half and couldn’t keep up.
