There's a long, long, long way to go before this can be possible :(
If everything goes perfectly we are a couple of decades away from France being able to challenge the top countries. The World Cup would have given the game a boost.

A couple of years ago the Sydney Roosters signed Sacha Kouassi and Enzo Griffier . Sacha has since returned to France but Enzo is playing second row in the roosters jersey Flagg team and has made a few appearances in NSW Cup. Hopefully he kicks on to the nrl.

A few years ago the Sydney Roosters welcomed in their staff a RU "french legend" Fred Michalak and now the result is that he has learned a lot from this experience in NRL, experience that he uses in his club Racing 93, club that has just signed Joseph Manu

Between RU and its flagship competition the Top 4 and RL the difference is so enormous in terms of power and media coverage that this situation is irreversible in my opinion

This gap is 100 times greater than the opposite situation in Australia between the powerful NRL and ARU

That's why the experience of this tour is important to me, and why I wanted to highlight it here.
To give young French athletes a glimpse into the reality of what Rugby League can be.
And in the opinion of many French fans, the solution must partly involve massive support from the NRL, and that's another story.

A couple of things that would help the game grow …
1) TV deal to get games shown on free tv

2) Elite 1 becoming professional

3) a second team in the Super League

It’s possible these things could happen within the next decade. Rugby 13 will never catch Union but it can still have a strong domestic comp and if France can find 17 gun players theyll have a strong international team.

Big competition on the French television market, the French people love their national teams and as RL international competition are so poor, it is difficult to attract major media outlets.
Even the channel that broadcasts the Catalans Dragons prefers to put it on their main channel soapbox races while they're on a secondary channel..
French Super XIII had few games broadcast on a regional internet channel that just shut down.
2) Elite 1 becoming professional
100% agree, in the right mindset, we can do it, but the essentials are missing and will always be missing $$$$$
And how about a main competition without main french team ?
3) a second team in the Super League
Why not ? But see point 2 above

I think it’s incredible league is still alive in France, with all that it’s been through to still have a heartbeat shows the game has a small but loyal fan base.

Let’s hope the NRL can get behind French League and help it grow. Abdo has said in interviews that France is important and the IRL has identified France as a market that needs more funding. The frame work is in place now it needs to be taken to the next level.
