Parr has signed a new multi-year contract and will take over as club CEO from November as well.
People will probably celebrate this without any evidence that it's actually a good thing at this stage.

Having said that, it may be the case that replacing Gardner is a net positive regardless of his replacement.

I sincerely hope Parry comes firing out of the gates on day one of his CEO tenure. That he literally goes full Godfather. But it won’t be allowed cos Gardner will remain chairman.

If Gags and Friz go elsewhere it’s a massive f**k up from POS. Our recruitment and retention has been diabolical since he came on board.
Thank god. Seeing someone else finally say it just gave me a huge sigh of relief. I honestly thought I was going crazy.

We are nickel and diming Gags over a matter of 50k by the way, according to Baz on twitter a few days ago. It's f**king disgraceful imo. Can't say with Friz and I'm more amenable to playing hardball with him, but squabbling with a club legend over 50k when we can still get use out of him next year is f**king insane to me. Dane has his ups and downs, but he still has big games in him on the field, pairs well with Dom and has huge value to us as an old head mentor off field too. 50k. Disgraceful.

Frizzell has looked off the pace for 2 years now and past his best for 4-5 years, I'd certainly keep him for experience and mentoring but won't be upset if he leaves.

Gags again has gone backwards but is still a good NRL centre.
Totally agree to be honest. We never got the Friz that played for the Dragons. Maybe the first year or two. I'm way less fussed about him than turfing Gags.

Friz still makes over 100m a game and is a tackling machine. He's playing in the middle now and is still holding his gloves up despite being a career back rower

Way harsh to say he's essentially been shit for years

He said off the pace. I would also sub in the term "going through the motions".

Do you think Friz is providing 700k of value, if you run the ruler over the rest of the comps 700k forwards? He's been overpaid for his contribution for quite a while. He's not hopeless, but he's not Tyson Frizell, NSW origin player anymore - and we never really got to see that version at the Knights. We've paid for it, though.

The biggest reason I'm in any way worried about losing Friz is because we've already given the rest of the forward pack the arse and replaced them with a sprinkling of reserve graders - but it's not on the strength of Friz's contributions and more on the lack of contributions from a certain highly-rated recruitment officer thus far.

Id argue that he hasnt been "off the pace" (whatever that means) either given hes contributing just as much if not more than the others in our pack outside of Lucas.

He literally played origin in 2023 while with us so thats also a bit of a harsh assessment on the guy.

Im not sure how many backrowers are on $700k but im more than willing to bet his numbers over the last 5 years hold up to most of them. Name a few and id be happy to look.

Hes also now playing in the middle and getting older, sure, but hes been a valuable contributor over his time here and suggesting otherwise isnt being truthful imo

Your not excited about giving Peter Hola a 2 year deal, a bloke most league fans reaction to would be "who"?
That ones not one to Holla about to be sure.

On Friz and Gags. I hope we keep them (especially Gags) but we as a club have been dishing up overblown contracts for a while now. I'm happy to see them go if we are sticking to some strict strategy. They are both mid 30s anyways.

Just doesn't pass the eye test for me. His impact is really low. I'd imagine he's quite low on the list of tackle breakers, line breakers, try scorers. I don't know if they provide a public statistic for forcing errors but I imagine he's low on that list too. He just doesn't impose himself on a match in any way. It all kinda just happens around him.

As for metres... you probably rated Aiden Tolman as the greatest prop who ever lived, too? It's all well and good to bang out big metres (which I don't think Friz does either tbh, 100m isn't the high bar to clear for a well paid NRL player). Friz gets dominated in contact often and has done for a while. He doesn't have his explosiveness and has been in decline for ages (which is why people have been pushing his move to the middle for a good 18 months or more now too).

But at the end of the day, it's just my opinion. I don't mind us lowballing Friz as much as I do them lowballing Gags. Pretty much all it comes down to.

Friz ain't on 700k anymore, that was his first deal here that ended in 2023
What's he on now? I'm not sure it changes my maths or care factor unless he's on like 400k - but maybe I'm being a little harsh.

I just find metre-eater arguments super weak and lazy. Sorry it's upset you, wasn't my intention. I'll be less presumptuous for you next time.
Nah not upset I just find it equally weak when people post "Oh I bet you *inset ridiculous opinion here* too?" when theres no basis for it. Im happy to discuss points but sinking to that just seems juvenile imo

Dont get me wrong its fun to be juvenile at times but this wasnt one imo
