But Union already do this with thier 7’s circuit which has been losing money and played in empty stadiums.

F1 and cricket have the advantage of being a globally popular sports, Rugby is popular in how many countries? NZ ? The South of France ? White South Africans ? Southern England universities?

But will be happy to see it happen if it ruins thier international game and upcoming World Cup.
It has and no doubt the people behind it will have been saying they didn't have the money to market it and create the show it requires to fill them. If the investors belive it will be the test of if it happens or not.

RU is played in a number of countries at a reasonable amount
England
Scotland
Wales
Ireland
France
Italy
Argentina
USA
Sth Africa
Australia
Japan
NZ

12 countries with a sizeable population base in which to sell the tv rights to.

I hope they go for it and it fails as well, hopefully it will just create even more problems for Union than they currently have! I can see it cannibalizing existing National Union club comps and reducing their tv deals at a national level if it gets off the ground.

Theres no doubt it’ll be catastrophic for Union.

England Union has already said that any player signing with R360 won’t be selected for the national team, there’s no doubt NZ, Australia and France will have the same stance. So assuming these countries each lose thier top 50 players who do they selection for internationals ? They will be fielding thier C team. It’ll guarantee Sth Africa win the next World Cup without being tested.

and as you mentioned it’ll also have a big effect on broadcast deals for domestic comps. Who’s going to pay big money to broadcast Top 14, Premiership or Super Rugby when they’ll be missing their top 50 players.

As the great @Wb1234 said, it could be worth losing a dozen NRL players to watch Union crash and burn.

Sounds like they'll have X number of clubs representing cities who will play a magic weekend type event around the world.
Think:
Sydney
Auckland
London
Paris
Rome
Dublin
Edinburgh
Johannesburg
Buenos Aries
Singapore
Dubai
Miami
etc

They all play over a weekend in one venue magic weekend style. Over the season they play each other once. with a finals series at end. That would be my guess. Its made for global streaming. Australian audience will be minor to what they will be internationally targeting. If Union (and new to the sport fans) will care is the gamble part I guess. And if fans in a city, lets say London, will care if Auckland is playing Singapore enough to keep a stadium looking reasonably full over the course of a weekend is the other potential flaw in the model. Its ambitious!
Its amazing to see you get your panties so wet over this.

It sounds like some slop that someone invented on AI.

If it did happen, and I am very skeptical right now, it would quickly become the "legitmatised" like World Series Cricket and become the main version of Union, and would be ultimately a shitful thing for League.

Im just very skeptical about the whole thing, and think its mainly a player managers wet dream.

It's going to undermine every Rugby Union comp in the world, which many are already struggling. Now they'll be forced to pay even more for their top players and a decline in viewership.
The Super league war that decimated the NRL is literally playing out now for Rugby. The key difference is Rugby league went for Super League because it was going so well.
They're going for this because they're in trouble...

I can't see how this works at all. Pop up franchisees playing all over the place.. why would you watch it? How could you inspire passionate supporters?

Just have to see how it plays out but the NRL needs to get cracking on lifting the cap and a marquee allowance now. We won't be able to keep all of them but hopefully we get them paying massive overs like they did with Sualii.

I doubt it happens

But if it does nrl is around to pick up the pieces on a global level

Just must ignore any temptation to pay overs even if it’s someone like Cleary

But the nrl could be running short of wingers for a few years if it comes off

Super league war in oz cost 500 million

For union this will run into billions … which they don’t have

Imagine you got kids and your signing with a league and you don’t know which part of the world you are playing in

It’s bonkers

Ponga has already said he’s staying in Newcastle

Good luck to rts getting double the money he deserves that pay day

All the chat has been about which league players they are getting when union is about to get decimated

It will definitely undermine the existing comps like Super 14, Premiership and Super Rugby. It will effect the ecosystem of those leagues.

As for the NRL, yeah a marquee player spot outside the cap could work. But also, it is good to see the NRL give Vegas a go. We can't always think domestically.

IF it happened, which I highly doubt, Union would quickly wave the white flag and let this organisation run the game.

Much like the BCCI (Indian Cricket Board) runs Cricket now.

All this kind of reminds me of the old NFL Europe competition but without the star players and look where that competition is now.
