I remember Loftus being spoke of and personally don’t like it.

The Dragons future is in the Gong. There will be enough opportunity of multi use in central Sutherland Shire for the likes of Waratahs and Sydney FC playing a couple home games a season there in addition to Sharks men’s and women’s.

Of course, getting the government to see that is another job, but I do envisage there would be a great opportunity for significant financial support from Westfield.

Loftus is just too far away. If Homebush has taught us anything, our sports precincts need to be located in bustling, entertainment friendly, commercial hubs. Miranda has it all.
That's why I said that any new venue would want a guarantee of both clubs for it to happen. This is the reason Jubilee didn't get a pass mark to be upgraded, we wouldn't commit to it.

I do not see any govt ever building a new stadium just for CSRLFC and minor teams.
There just isn't any competition in the political arena for the region.

If Labor somehow became a real alternative then yes I could se it maybe getting looked at, or PVL and the NRL gained some power back off the state govt.

Like I said, I see the Sharks playing half their games at the SFS in the non-too-distant future, and leave the Shark Park games to Cowboys, Titans etc..

well, the fans will either not go because the team moved within the same city and the team will die off, or theyll go to the games at allianz

i mean, plenty of shire people go to the swans i bet.

Does everyone remember when the A-League were calling on a new team, and there was a consortium from China wanting to have a team that represented Southern Sydney and Wollongong?
They were going to build a brand new 25K stadium, where?
Loftus.
The A-League turned them down and went for that silly Macathur region, despite the Sutherland Shire having the most junior players in the Southern Hemisphere for the last 30 years or so.
Why did they turn them down?
One can only suspect that the powers at the helm, the Lowys, didn't want their own team, Sydney FC, to lose the area.
But I'm only speculating , as in even in that decision politics played it's part, soccer politics, but politics nonetheless.

Politics will determine what happens to Endeavour, or whether it will be our home ground in any capacity.
That thing that kept us alive for so many years, "owning our home ground", giving us bank loans and using it as a guarantee, is now an albatross around our neck.

Those clubs still need training spaces. I think converting Shark Park to a similar setup as Redfern as a CoE for League, Union and other sports adds to the project.

I do love spending other people’s money 😂

yeah, build a COE, training facilities all at the one spot. The spaces mentioned are big enough for it.

Here's a kicker,
The Club made more money taking that home game to Perth than they do at the home ground.
The ground in it's state isn't making them money, especially as there has been no Leagues Club to gain whatever benefit from the crowds.

At some point people are going to be looking more firmly at Fred's Dog* and Mace.
The decisions behind the hold up of the Leagues, whilst may have been justified at the time, will it be for paying a price in the future?
If an agreement is made between the Club and some games to the SFS, why shouldn't they take the offer on hand for some guaranteed cash? Or wait and hope for a 13K crowd every time? The ground isn't going to be bale to hold more for a long time yet.

I'm not trying to upset anyone, or even create arguments. I'm just presenting another side, or many other sides..

the whole point of the leagues club refurb, and the f**kn village around it, was for it to be profitable regardless of gamedays

the bulldogs and dragons clubs have no problem making money with games not directly next to it.

The club would make more money year round with the ground converted to residential. So that’s not an issue

The development needed to have some major upgrades to the Stadium tied to it.
Because of some really poor management, that didn't become viable, and now the Sharks are between a rock and a hard place.

They need to sell the ground and play at Allianz (and lobby with NRL and Dragons to get a new stadium built). If the fans don't travel, well the joint doesn't deserve to have a team.

It's easier to get to now...

I think having a new stadium at Miranda, could help with getting commercial funding. Whether it's at Seymour Shaw Park or Miranda Park.

With funding, sell Shark Park. Maybe the NRL sells the hotel and the sale contributes to the new stadium. At the very minimum, receive state government funding for a CoE/ grandstand, similar to Brookvale Oval's northern end at the new site.

Get Westfield Miranda involved. They could possibly help fund part of the stadium. But in exchange, Westfield Miranda get naming rights to the new stadium for 10 or 20 years. Like "Westfield Miranda Stadium" or "Westfield Stadium".

As part of the deal, Westfield Miranda could have ownership or part ownership of the venue for x amount of years, then hand over the reigns to Cronulla Sharks.

And of course with a stadium nearby, the shopping centre will have increased foot traffic on game days.

The venue would also need a summer tenant. Like a few Sydney FC games, or Sutherland Sharks admiited in the A League. Allianz and Commbank have A league teams and both venues are used 12 months of the year.

In the short term, Cronulla Sharks should sell 2 or 3 home games and earn revenue.

Just a few ideas i wanted to share. Whether they are good, bad or in between.

Your words are appreciated.
You're talking of still owning our home ground though, aren't you? Just at a different location?
If so, that is the crux of the issue. Having to keep it updated and the maintenance etc.
Every other club, except Dolphins Kayo ground, are govt owned in some way, council or state.
Owning our own ground has served it's purpose, we do not generate anywhere enough coin to keep the place up to date without assistance.
I get it that under your proposal Westfields would be part, or full, owners.
Westfields are a big business, they would expect revenues and profits of a significant nature.
but of course,
Westfields owned by Lowys, also owners of Sydney FC.

I think for the Club going forward there has to be a Govt attached to it.

Wow, I didn’t know that. Is there any artist impressions of the site after final stage is completed?

edit: I found this link https://jointheconversation.sutherlandshire.nsw.gov.au/seymour-shaw-mp-2021
I can't find any good photos of it online but driving past you just get this devastation that wow that should be us. It all knocked down with a few things up but you just look at it and think what a missed opportunity. Chuck some stands on it and it will likely be better than Shark park.

I'd be much more likely to make the 45-60 min trip to Moore park than the 15 to Shark Park
