I just read this and I'm surprised. I hope they get a deal done but that is a good deal for him. I figure he'll get that elsewhere as well though so he isn't screwing himself over.

Personally I wouldn't go much higher. I think overall he is great - solid on both sides of the ball - but I don't see him as being a game breaker.

I think if Luai passed him the ball more in a normal backline line up position and not a delayed pass or starting from some backwater position he’d be impossible to stop.. He will prob ask for what he was on at P $650 Id say “hang on let me check the Till”

I'm honestly not sure. I wonder if I'm judging Taylan as not having that explosiveness because his brother is more of a worker middle forward. I haven't seen Taylan make a bust through explosive speed or stepping or something.

I really like both of them as players and I hope he stays it's just how much do you pay him. I'd go with the shorter term contract though. You can reevaluate later.

It’s a good deal for Taylan.If he stays out of trouble then in 2 yrs clubs will be queuing for his signature offering him an open cheque

That to me seems like he's already looking to leave when either some shit club offers him a bucket load of money or he will leave when he's got more form behuind him and a good team wants him. Bit rich when we picked you up off the scrap heap. Lets say we went to 500k and he wants more. So we either tell him to f**k off now and cop some pain or we develop him into a really good centre and watch him walk out.

The additional problem is that both May brothers will be coming off contract at the same time now.

I don't have a crystal ball, but lets see if I can predict the future.

Both May brothers have bumper years next year, and come November 1 sign with Roosters / Panthers / insert more prominant club here, for 'less' money. They then become disillusioned with the Tigers direction and start agitating for a release..........

Agree, I don't think we've overpaid him from what I've seen though and his keeness to have a big preseason

I hope he kills it the next two years, just not thrilled with the guy who had few options when we signed him then turn around and tell us yeah nah pay me more money in return for taking a chance on me. Still I hope he kills it for us and then resigns with us. At least we're at a point where we can whinge about what talented players will do, it wasnt too long ago that we said what talented players....

I get what your saying Gordy.
The fact that he was given a chance by putting him on a let's see how you go contract is irrelevant now that he's been given the green light.
Unless it was a player that I really wanted to retain and who doesn't have excess baggage like Bula, a two year contract is ok and protects both May and the club.
I don't normally like options and clauses in contracts, but on this occasion I would have agreed to a 2 year deal with a club option of a further year.
We should now be focusing on making the finals next year and let the journos squabble over the scraps.

We are the fair distance from being a hot chick. Taylans the extremely cool, good looking dude .. No long term promises. Definitely no ring

Spot on. All the doubters about Benji's ability to coach might be starting to see his value. I was one of them.
He is young like Ciraldo and can communicate well with the youngins.
He even admits he's got a lot to learn but so did all the super coaches.
Imagine if Benji turns out to be a top coach and stays with us for ages.
We won't have problems attracting the top tier players at all.
Some players sacrifice salary just to stay under bellyache or ricky etc.

I'm cynical and my thoughts are money is the no 1 thing that attracts players. I think salary sacrifices are more like accepting money off the cap.
