Huge credit to Fitzy, he has rewarded on field performance by keeping BB and JC in the starting 13. I am thrilled that Nikora hasn't walked straight back into the team - his efforts of the bench have been sensational.
Mind if I step in here and give myself a rap?

In round 2 I was calling for mcplod to be punted.
I knew this would happen.
He is an anchor and removing whatever it is he brings would open us up.
When he got injured I said watch us go from here.

So well done Fritz.
25 rounds too late - but better that than never.
Shame this call was forced upon you because if the Clydesdale didnt get snipered he would still be starting and we'd be out

I was annoyed when he resigned him for extra season.

Cam is a player that really helps a struggling club he sets the bar, and won't give up.

But as someone posted before hands on ball too much, you can see stats with JC does not handle the ball as much, it allows the spine perform better, also has freed up Brails as well as he is now the captain, something we haven't mentioned, he calls the shots now.
I am not going to get into 2026 yet but I think the structure of team will allow for some tinkering to be done

I know Fitz personally and he let me in on a little secret. He lurks in here and never makes big decisions until he’s checked he’s on the same page as you. In fact he’s telling me he’s wanting to have a chat with you about the assistant coaches role next year he’s that impressed.

Interesting I couldn't see Fitz looking here but the players yes.
I follow Sunderland in the EPL and one the older players was saying even though players don't want to know what fans say, they read it all, so I could imagine the players would be reading what is getting said

Thats no secret.
Of course hes in here.

Funny thing is he was probably reading my critique of macca the plodder for 20 rounds and thinking "Will he just let it go.."

And now hes thinking "All this time he was right - why the f**k didn't I listen??"

Totally agree, we would not be where we are. And it would be on our coach and he is lucky to be here.

Now that the season's done, kudos to Fitz for sorting out the defense.
If they can maintain that level of commitment they'll be standing in good stead next year.

But my god the attack.
Something has to be done about it over the off season.
It's just rinse and repeat, week after week, and very easy to defend.
We never really looked like troubling the Strom last night.

I don't know why it takes until the 70th minute and being down by 12 to start shifting the ball to the edges.

The attack, we have gone to the point of completions is the most important stat.
It's important but if you don't threaten anyone it counts for nothing.
You might beat the bottom teams but as you can see playing the better teams it does not work.
The tactic we are using I would take Button over Hynes or Trindall it's just put up bomb hope to get a repeat set and eventually we score

We beat the Raiders, Dogs, Roosters and the rogues gallery of both shit and shit hot teams on their day. At any point of the seasons they could be “bottom teams” I guess.
Damn… and I thought I was cooked

Penrith game plan? Works pretty well for them.

The mind set of the coach has to change. I think we think like the Roosters. But we don’t have their money or influence. We need a more fluid retention and discard policy.

I agree, need to look at squad and what players to keep and which ones to move on.
4 years with hardly a change compared to rest of the comp.
Yes made finals but that is it.
Seeing how Billy Burns has come on means you can move on a forward like Uele

How do you expect us to find the money to pay a player out and continue to be competitive and bring someone else in?

Considering the staff numbers and dollars put into equipment, facilities, Physios, extra coaches etc I would say Melbourne and Brisbane would be triple what we can spend.
Penrith roosters and dogs would be at least double.
The club over achieves each time we make the prelim.

Do they need some tweaks and perhaps a little extra here or there. Sure, but to bang on about wholesale changes if ludicrous.

Lots of clubs would be overjoyed to achieve what we have consistently with our football spend.

Billy burns doesn’t have the body shape to be able to replace a body like uele and be expected to be at a high level for a year.

Look how poor Burns was against the storm. Most nrl games he has played in a few years. He ran out of gas. Play him through the middle each week and he gets half as many good games

Holdsworth is taking Hannay’s job.
heard the coaching staff were filthy too about losing the prelim. It was said we lack the X factor but don’t have the money and are hoping someone/junior stands up

That is mildly concerning as Holdsworth is very close to Fitz so doubtful we get much new thinking. The Sharks love stability.
