I am just assuming. Why do you think there are potential undiscovered fans out there that would come to league if a new team entered Auckland? The Warriors are on a three year popularity high, any potential fans up for grabs are going to come for the Warriors not for an unknown team.
I'm an ignorant dickhead but for other reasons. You are an ignorant dickhead if you think Chch is going to get crowds that come anywhere close to the Warriors.
TBF he did claim to be a Chch schoolboy so he might not have been born in Auckland.Only twice a year? Clearly you don't know as much as someone who pretends to be born there.
I'm not trying to win the internet, your problem is you spout so much bollocks in here that when you do attempt "satire" it's not obvious.Called me out on satire. Yep , you won the Internet.
Nah. You're just so easily triggered by anything I post that it clouds your judgement.TBF he did claim to be a Chch schoolboy so he might not have been born in Auckland.

I'm not advocating either way, I'm calling you out on your bullshit.I'm an ignorant dickhead but for other reasons.
*Brand new world class facility that holds 25k
* Roof, meaning crowds will not be impacted by weather
* Every game of recent memories has sold out in Christchurch in an average less well located facility, regardless of weather.
* The teams playing haven't even represented the people of Christchurch or the South Island
Warriors stadium holds 25k
Exposed to the weather
Christchurch holds 25k
Unexposed to the weather
In Christchurch's first year with first year hype, it's almost guaranteed to beat the Warriors average.
100% guaranteed it would beat a second Auckland side
Anzac Day match sells out in Christchurch | Warriors https://share.google/jw8I5y7gNDzHQa8LS
I think long term the Warriors move to a bigger stadium and their average climbs and the hype around Christchurch subsides but short term, it's pretty obvious how it plays out.
Only way that the Warriors beat the Christchurch average is if they played Christchurch at Eden Park and it sells out.. which is highly likely.
Why do you want a second Auckland team anyway?
What's the point of that?
Why quote my post if you didn't read it?I'm not advocating either way, I'm calling you out on your bullshit.
You think the 400k Union mad population of Christchurch will immediately become the 3rd best crowd average in Rugby League?
And the only reason you can provide is "it has a roof!"
I am arguing for considering a second Auckland team. Why do you want a second Auckland team anyway?
What's the point of that?

KIWI ORIGIN
As revealed by this masthead a fortnight ago, the NRL is on the verge of a landmark announcement – State of Origin making its debut in New Zealand in 2027.
The New Zealand government has a $70 million war chest to bring sporting events across the ditch and they want State of Origin. Talks are in the advanced stage with the NRL, NZ tourism chiefs and Origin’s rights holders Channel 9 thrashing out a kick-off time at the proposed venue, Auckland’s Eden Park.
V’landys confirmed Origin is poised to head overseas for the first time in 40 years since their American exhibition at Los Angeles in 1987.
“It’s close to happening, yes,” V’landys said.
“Origin in New Zealand is another new idea we’re looking at.
“We will keep trying new things to grow our audience and the one thing we have the AFL doesn’t is international appeal.
“We will keep growing. If New Zealand is the growth area, we will attack. It will mean more revenue for the game.
“Origin in New Zealand would rate the house down. We want to do it, but we just need to overcome some hurdles with broadcasters and time restrictions.
“Once we get through those, I’m confident it will happen.”
If not then it never will."We will keep growing. If New Zealand is the growth area, we will attack. It will mean more revenue for the game."
Those are powerful words.
NZ2 needs to come in by 2030
There’s an article posted on Brisbane 3 thread talking about team 20 could come in before 2032"We will keep growing. If New Zealand is the growth area, we will attack. It will mean more revenue for the game."

At first I thought we were moving in 3 year increments but I guess there's a lot of moving parts. The Dolphins are getting a lot of room but then, soon after Perth in 27, PNG is 28 !There’s an article posted on Brisbane 3 thread talking about team 20 could come in before 2032
They will want to see what kind of squads png and Perth put together first plus do tv deal

With the new tv deal it will be salary cap around 16 million and nrl grant 25 millionAt first I thought we were moving in 3 year increments but I guess there's a lot of moving parts. The Dolphins are getting a lot of room but then, soon after Perth in 27, PNG is 28 !
Makes me very skeptical of PNG because they're giving them the worst possible player market to try and recruit. Those 2 sides will take a long time to get a competitive team going.
Or we're doing a SL and just throwing them in the deep end?
I'd like to think that PNG is rightfully delayed because of the challenges they face and NZ2 is brought forward. If not then it never will.
id announce NZ2 as soon as possible just to grow the excitement in New Zealand if nothing else.
NZ 2 in Auckland would just cannibalise the Warriors, in fact it’d be just like when the Hunter Mariners started up in Newcastle- a team no one wants. Race based isn’t the answer either, Moana Pasifika syndrome. It is not exactly like the Newcastle scenario. Basically everyone in Newcastle who is a sports fan is a Knights fan as either their first team or second team - every sports fan in Newcastle is a Rugby League fan.
I think (could be wrong) that there are a fair few sports fans in Auckland, there is 1.7million of them, that aren't yet RL fans. They are up for grabs and a rivalry would rattle them into interest. Also some competition could be good for the Warriors like it has been for Broncos. If the Warriors won a GF it would be huge for the game there.
Wellington looks too small for an NRL team.
Auckland council have pushed to move the Warriors to Eden park a few times and it’s always met with massive opposition and seen as playing second fiddle to union as well as the tradition and history the warriors have at mt smart.Christchurch will be perfect, there's 1 million people on the south island and they capture a few anti Auckland supporters too.
NZ has this thing where everyone outside Auckland hate Auckland - Jafa's , so a team outside of Auckland will create a bigger rivalry than an inner Auckland one would.
Auckland is the big smoke in NZ but if you spend much time there, you won't find many Aucklanders or NZnders or people who speak English!
It's a very high immigration population that don't vibe on Rugby league and Why the Wahs still play at a 25k stadium.
I'm not saying it can't work but there's better options and until the Warriors have had to move to Eden Park and average 35k , is put it on the back burner.
