So, 2 years ago, an absolute atrocity occurred in southern Israel, where 1200 Israeli's were slaughtered and many more taken hostage, tortured and abused. An absolutely horrific terror attack of which the world has rarely ever seen.
Today is a good day where a small amount of those hostages are being returned to their families, due to the recently agreed 'peace' agreement.
Unfortunately, and sadly, others will be returned to their families in Isreal in coffins. A tragic ending to an horrific terror attack.
The return of these Israeli's is being celebrated today, one way or another. And so it should be. I believe it is roughly around 50 or 60 people, either alive or deceased. A somewhat sobering ending to what has been two years of emotional torture for these people and their families.

Unfortunately, during the ensuing 2 years since the terror attack, Isreal has inflicted on Gaza the death of over 65 000 Palestinians - mostly civilians.
It goes without saying that there have been many women and children killed, and obviously innocent family men.
They have absolutely decimated Gaza and the homes of over a million people. They have targeted hospitals, schools, etc.
They have denied innocent civilians decent medical aid, food and water, sanitary conditions and shelter from the elements. It has been genocide of the highest order all in the name of retaliation. An absolute over-reaction that attempted to wipe out a whole society of people, mostly while the world stood idly by, and in the USA's case, actively supported this genocide.

What I'm most upset about in this rant, is that the world never seems to learn its lessons, and innocent people just wanting to live in peace keep dying.
Human anger keeps making the same mistakes. Why?

I love how the media are reporting - ABC News24 of all places - that 20 Israeli hostages are being returned by Hamas... but at the same time that 2,000 Palestinian "prisoners" are being released by Israel.

The figures speak to who has been the aggressor governing entity over the past two years.

Well written Suity. Agree 100%.

I too am fearful that one the photo opportunity of this current peace agreement is over, it will just take one move in the wrong direction from one of the "sides" for the other side to go back to hostilities causing innocent death.

And why do we need Trump pictured signing anything, when it's the leaders of these two "sides" that need to be held to account and agree to stop being f**kwits?

Simply put — don’t poke the Bear Jew. Hamas made a catastrophic mistake and paid the price. Fair? No. But the Jewish people are too strong and too united to ever be pushed around again.

*The current Israeli government, not "the Jewish people".

You have a habit of conflating a government of the day with a race or culture of people. Many Jewish people disagree with the actions of Netanyahu.

Spare me the selective outrage. Netanyahu didn’t fall out of the sky — he was elected, and re-elected, by the very people you’re trying to separate from him. He is Israel's longest serving Prime Minister. The line between Israel’s politics and its people isn’t blurred — it’s chosen.

What he said is 100% accurate though

Israeli’s and Jewish people are different things.

The majority of Israelis are Jewish, but not all Jewish people are Israeli (in fact many are not).

from my own experiences and discussions, most non-Israeli Jewish people are absolutely in condemnation of Netanyahu’s actions.

The oppression of the Palestinians by the Israeli’s was the initial, decades-long poking of the bear. Israel essentially created Hamas, then decided genocide of an entire race would be the solution to the problem they created.

I hope and pray for peace, but Netanyahu is a war mongering POS and I have no doubt he’ll once again stoke the bear when the opportunity arises, and use it as a reason to kill more innocent people. The only person I don’t wish peace for is him, I hope he is haunted by his actions every day until its time for him to spend eternity somewhere very hot…..

Not outrage, just calling you on your habit of thinking all people of a country, culture, race as being homogenous in views or attributes.

As we know, it only takes 50% + 1 to elect a PM or government of a country. Australia is equally divided - albeit with a large majority to Labor at the moment :) - we know the US is always pretty equally divided, especially when it's not compulsory to even vote over there.

So why wouldn't Israel (the country) or Jewish people (within Israel, and living around the world) also be similarly equally divided? But you seem to think that Netanyahu equals the views of all Jewish people... pretty lazy brainwork on your part, wouldn't you say?
