I’ve already said that it’s sad to lose Cody but imagine the outrage on here if for instance we’d signed him & the roosters or someone else snuck under our guard & signed young Burton instead. I don’t know anything about Ollie but plenty on here rave about him.

The Roosters salary cap ELASTICITY means they can gamble on Cody. We don't have that luxury. Also, I'm sure Uncle Nick has called in a favour with some business to provide TPA for Cody that wont count on their salary cap. We also don't seem to have this luxury. He would be on a minimum contract, TOPPED up with a TPA. As frustrating as this is for us Saints fans, I'm glad for Codey as he gets to earn more for his family. Saints CANNOT compete with the Roosters in what a player can earn. Saints have looked after Cody and have done nothing wrong. Cody has done nothing wrong. The NRL are at fault as they refuse to fix a SHIT system that allows 4 or 5 teams to trade in GOLD while the other 12 clubs trade in ALUMINIUM. Until they FxCK off the TPAs, nothing will change. Storm, Roosters, Bulldogs, Broncos, etc will continue to sit top 4.
We could have used our media film making contacts through WIN to make a documentary story on Cody, follow him around at preseason and into next year when he hopefully plays at least one NRL match and Cody could have been paid to be part of it, thus a TPA that would have topped up his development contract but of course we cannot think outside the square.

I'm getting a little tired of the poor Dragons versus the rich Roosters comparisons. Between Billionaires Gordon and Twiggy, surely there could have been TPA opportunities for Cody and others via WIN Corps or Squadron Energy if the Board had their collective thinking caps on.

Maybe- but just as likely we could have kept both especially given the number of players we've lost or are being pushed out our door. The Roosters are a hardnosed successful outfit and, given the number of relatively cheap players (like Sloan and Chevy Stewart) on the market for back up to their back three, it is interesting they chose Cody.

Time will tell on whether we made the right call or not.

Surely Quinn is not top 30 because if he is we are more stupid than I thought.
He is a NSW cup player nothing more.
So is Kyle Flanagan and he was our first choice halfback for the 2025 season. Let Quinn, Reed and Flanagan via for the 7 jumper and LKT and Atkinson via for the 6 jumper.

Dragons win race for electric Rabbitohs youngster

The South Sydney Rabbitohs have missed out on retaining one of the club's brightest young stars, Nicholas Quinn, after a logjam in the halves led to a rival squad swooping in.
After it was reported last week that the Brisbane Tigers, St George Illawarra Dragons, and Rabbitohs were all vying for his signature, Quinn has made a major career call.

Zero Tackle understands that the Jersey Flegg skipper and 2025 NSW Cup debutant has decided to take his services to the St George Illawarra Dragons from 2026.
Previously a Dragon before making his way to the Rabbitohs, Quinn has been in hot demand after an electric season in the red and green, with Shane Flanagan convincing the youngster to return home.

Gordon is a tight ass. That’s why the dragons haven’t been able to attract top tier players because they’ll get no paper bags from Mr Burns.
