Not sure what I feel about that. I'd like us to keep him because after a few injuries he was starting to come good and I like the idea of having a fast but big forward who if he gets through the defence, can be 60 metres downfield and looking for Moses, JAC and Simmonson in support.

I was stating, not implying, that just because a player departs midcontract doesn’t mean the remainder of their contract comes under the salary cap, even if another NRL club doesn’t sign him and the original club continues to pay him.
Of course generally the more money that is at play, the less likely that variation can be agreed between club, player & NRL.
if he is not medically retired and the player gets paid, the money comes out of the cap. end of story.

Sure ok bro
In order for Burgess to be medically retired by the NRL and have his estimated $1 million-a-season contract declared exempt from the salary cap, the NRL must consider three factors.
  1. The Player, at the time of termination, was diagnosed as medically unfit to currently continue to train and play elite level contact sport and was medically unable to ever return to play elite level contact sport due to the current level of disability or the significant risk of further disabling injury as a result of playing elite level contract sport.
  2. The Player, had no similar injury or medical condition to that area of the body that either has or could reasonably be predicted medically to lead to a degenerative condition of that area of the body prior to signing his last NRL contract or if the players contract was signed more than 24 months previous within the last 24 months unless an unrelated single event has resulted in rapid deterioration of this condition.
  3. A single event that caused the injury could be identified.

Watch the Supercars from The Bend and got to say how much I love Jess Yates. From grand final NRL coverage into Bathurst 1000 then Phillip Island MotoGp and back now to Supercars.

She knows her content and does a good job of keeping some of the moron commentators in check.

What a woman!

Fair enough, but luckily you have time to share your wisdom with us based on thoughts, feelings and vibe....Im sure Ill pay attention in future.
Given where we are, who you are and the nature of your inputs, I’m sure you will. And I lovingly await your incorrect response

It makes sense. We have a bunch of young forwards coming through and our offer to him would reflect how much we need to keep him, which is not at all. But he's a good depth option at the right price. Obviously he wants more than 'the right price' and who can blame him. He's probably a top 17 player somewhere.

A few fringe first graders will be getting a nice upgrade either the Bears or the Chiefs.

Hell he may even take a pay jump to go play in the UK next year with the 2 additional sides

Hawkins signed with the London Broncos. He'll be hanging out in second division with RCG and Siliva Havili.
London is building a squad that has a good chance of going undefeated (They are merging second and third division for next season - so there'll be a handful of fully professional teams thrashing the semi-professional ones).
I hope Footy Dean kills it over there. Was a great reserve halfback.

I reckon there closer to a comp then what Leeds are who have an a-grade clown running the show.
