Frédéric Michalak is an icon of the French RU landscape, as a player we could consider him as a "romantic player" but his move to Australia is really very pragmatic.

He is married to an Australian, he knows the innovative power and the pioneering character of the NRL (he has already been part of Sharks and Roosters staff), and especially with the upcoming RU World Cup he could be a beachhead for the French Union team and why not also do some freelance work on Australian TV.

Well Lomax going to RU in Perth is his smartest choice at this point really.

Maybe a glimmer of hope that R360 goes ahead? In that case might as well play RU now. And if it sinks the NRL will have him back as a marquee signing for the Pears.

Also he gets a chance to acclimatise in Perth which is a massive stumbling block for the Pears recruitment team. Lots of cold feet at the moment.

Not one player signed makes the 17 in any current NRL team.
