Is this a trick question?

Knights standards dropped once O’Brien checked out. Tigers spent 4 seasons straight with poor standards and it was a couple of Panthers who brought their own into the wider squad. Vast improvement now.

Titans have had poor standards for a number of years. They’re finally self aware on this. This brought about a change of the coaching staff. Their own captain has mentioned his frustrations a number of times.

Lack of buy-in brings about poor standards and then high complacency. Every clubs looks raring to go round 1 but by round 20 you start to see the drop off and the checked out.

Not a trick question, they were the 2 clubs you would say BUT as you correctly point out.

Coaching or leadership off the field or behind those 2.

I will use Henry as an example. He had an offer to stay, If he was happy enough coming off the bench he could of had 3 more years here in his comfort zone.

He has chosen to move over into a what seems like a starter role.

He knows what extras Moses and Fish do at Penrith, especially if he wants to push for Origin selection.

Wishart too, Jerome Hughes is a converted halfback. Perfect to example for him to try and do, he too would know the extra kicking for example he does.

The players going over there have done so to improve as players, I am not sure that alone is needed as a KPI

Kid can play without a doubt. A talent.

@Red&BlackBear this morning you provided a list of players you’d go after and you named this kid

I thought at the time it was a random call and name to add. Did you already know he was a done deal because again it was almost too random. No one would have had him on their recruitment wish list..

Another solid signing. Certainly lots of youth in the squad so far. Indicates that the club isn't just thinking about seasons 1 & 2, but trying to build a core group who might be there for 5+ years.

He also has Jesse Colqhuoun on that list.
I said in this very thread ages ago that JC isn't leaving the Sharks, and he isn't.
Have a look at that Telegraph list of players and notice that JC's name isn't on it, for very good reason, they all know where he is continuing his career.
R and B would surely know that Colqhoun has rejected Perths offer. Its pretty well known now in the Cronulla circles.

I also wrote at the end of my wish list post
I’d be surprised if even half those players are nabbed, there will be more English contingent coming which I didn’t list.

It’s a personal wish list, nothing more. Jess would be a good get but if it isn’t to be, it isn’t to be.

I like that we are putting standards as #1 priority, club needs to set out its stall what we will be about. However I’m also very cognisant of the trajectory the western force went on in perth (all be it mirroring the fall of interest in union generally) and how year after year of poor results it eventually nearly killed the club. We need talent as well as character! We’ll get a 2-3 year pass in terms of results but after that we’d better be competitive and heading into the 8.

Every club says they put “their” standards first it’s one of those meaningless things they crap on about

Focus on juniors is promising so even if initial results aren’t the best that’s the best way to build a club long term

In the age of smartphones most of the dickheads get weeded out before their on the NRL radar, they're all on high standards these days.

It looks like they're going the youth route, which is super promising, hopefully that trend continues!
Cronk said it on a pod recently that they needed to focus on the cream of the crop coming through and he's right. It's far too hard to buy ready made stars but they still need to be competitive from day one.

Hopefully the start raiding the forces youth prospects.
