Because of the divisive Murdoch/News Limited and Sky at Night media, attempting to hoodwink the gullible and serve the interests of the conservative side of politics...?

Yeah..

No the data shows otherwise...Unless the media is hoodwinking the people putting the data together..

Those bastards..

Or maybe you are hoodwinked as well

And it's because of the government of the past 25+ years.

My comment was just an answer to your question of why people think Australia is going backwards. Perception is everything, and the wealthy owners of media conglomerates are in the business of shaping perceptions (and controversy) for financial returns.

In my 61 years on this planet, never have I found life as difficult financially or more expensive than as currently.
BOTH major parties are responsible for the shit fight the country is in at the moment.
What's sadder, is that when I was younger (40 years ago), I had a chance and opportunity to be able to buy decent property and build a future. I was even able to survive a mortgage with 17.5% interest rates while earning $25/hr.
Yet, for the kids of today, OUR kids of today, real estate prices are obscene and basically out of reach in Sydney, unless they want to live in the Druitt, or move to some shithouse country town. Or buy a cheap 1 bedder or studio in a decent suburb which will still set them back at least 6-$900 k's. Let's not mention food, energy and general everyday living costs on top of that.
This country has gone to the dogs.

I totally agree. Personally, I'll scrape through. But I honestly fear for those generations that follow.

I have kids who won't be able to afford houses due to the ridiculous prices they have blown out..

Btw they won't be able to afford Mt Druitt...

Can someone explain to me why our population keeps going up but we are told to reduce carbon emissions use less water use less resources but isn't growing our population basically negating that? Yes having a bigger population is good for the government. Don't use this as an anti immigration attack.

I get paid a lot more than 10 years ago but its basically the same lifestyle due to increasing costs...

It's multi faceted. The global gang need to get patriotic Aussies into a minority. Patriotism is their enemy. They want constitutional change in this country that is taking waaay too long for their liking.

The other major factor is the economy. It's been so poorly managed for 20 yrs that the only thing keeping it going is to stimulate the f**k outta it.

Governments like the people to be divided..

The government are barely keeping afloat.

Another thing can we stop building bloody data centers more of them are popping up than actual houses

Cost of living and house prices may of been high but they exploded after covid and lockdowns.Once we opened up everything got shot out of a cannon and prices never come down.
It wasn't a slow over 20yrs period where you could adjust naturally . A 700k house went to 1.1+ within 4yrs. And plenty of other things have doubled.
Who knows. Maybe all the lockdown shit was so they could wack us long term and tighten the chains a little more. Kill the middle class. Plenty of people have become very wealthy in the last 4yrs but at the expenses of the greater divide between future generations.
