The season still feels new, but we're a month in! It's time for another round, so let's go.
Tonight, a scriptwriters dream, DCE returns to Brookvale. He gets a lot of attention though, doesn't he? Is it really worth it? The Roosters look stronger on paper but the emotional return of Daly could work both for or against them.
Friday, a sold-out Mt Smart, Warriors v Tigers. It's 15 years since that nasty little Benji brawl, when they humiliated us with a big comeback win, then taunted us at the siren. There's no 'oh, poor Tigers' from me this weekend!
The Broncos are back in their Friday sweet-spot, but everything's not sweet at Red Hill HQ. Ben Te'o has walked, Madge hasn't balked, and the players look moody. A Dolphins upset!
Saturday, boring Canterbury host the, um, pretty boring Knights. This one feels like a mid-season run-of-the-mill. No Ponga or Brown for Newcastle is an early-season momentum-killer for them. The boringly efficient Panthers should do Parra and Payten has Melbourne in Townsville, just when he didn't need them.
Sunday, it's interesting in Canberra. Both the Raiders and Sharks are having a bit of a stutter. They both have big plans this year but a loss here is another set back. Sticky v Fitzy, it doesn't get more serious than this.
We close with the GC v Saints and a possible wooden-spoon result at play. It's way too early but signs are there. It couldn't be anymore disheartening for fans?
Enjoy.
