NRL Rd 5 2026 - General Non-Warriors Thread

Round five, about one fifth of our way through another season. Life's flying by, isn't it? But anyway, let's go, again.

Tonight, Easter's ushered in with the Dolphins hosting Foran's Sea Eagles. I want a new coach bounce, even though it's Manly.

Friday, it's good. The Easter Bunnies v Canterbury, Sydney fare. You still come across the odd person (and not necessarily of a certain vintage) that wishes the old NSWRL was still around, with just the Sydney teams. It actually reminds me of 1997, with the ARL competition. Dyed in the wool, they are, through and through.

Panthers v Storm, and the latter will drop out of the top-eight if they lose. A rallying win might start a winning run though, and don't we all love that?

Saturday, St George are due, but the Cowboys have found some form, particularly JT, who looked 2015-esque, which will have the Dragons on their toes. Up in Queensland the derby this time is the Titans v Broncos, the lesser of those derbies these days, as the GC have dropped off somewhat. Sill, they won last week.

Sunday, Cronulla host the (sort of) resurrected Warriors. I was sure we'd risen from the dead of last year, until the Tigers messed about with it. I'd love to go, you'd feel you could still have a swim down there too, which could be the highlight of the day for Warriors fans.

Newcastle are on fire but Canberra's in town, and desperate. Something's got to give! We close on Monday with Parramatta v Wests. Tigers fans are still believing and, in round five, that's truly an Easter miracle!

Enjoy.

Fast start by Manly.
3 of last 13 teams who sacked coach win next week.
10 in bin for obvious professional foul by Dolphins off Cobo dropped bomb.

Foran turns up with simple footy, forwards go forward, the star players featuring heavily in attack (Tom and Olakau’atu) and earning the right to spread it. That beautiful set play that Garrick scored was set up by half an hour of the Tom and Haumole show

Much better than the seibold side to side tripe

Jake has been copping an absolute pasting because of the way Seibold was forcing him to play. Already more runs in this game than the previous 3 combined

Listened to a podcast Foran did with the Johns recently, and he was explaining how he played differently when he had David Fifita outside him and played to his strengths rather than the textbook back rower

If tonight is a sample of what he is bringing to Olakau’atu’s game, he could turn into absolutely anything this year

268m in 68mins tonight

A 52-18 gobsmacking new-coach bounce for Manly.
I don't even think that's a dead cat bounce. The idea of a dead cat bounce is that there's no life in it and it just rebounds - that Manly side had new ideas. Wow, what an absolute blitzkrieg that was to 52-0, on the road.

Seibold will be in the corner of a room sucking his thumb somewhere

Just saw we have Storm next week, in Melbourne after potential losing 3 in a row!
The danger is Melbourne losing tonight and dropping out of the eight. They'll feel desperate to win the week after. It's not that long ago Bellamy would look at who they're playing and go, 'now's the perfect time to drop sixty'.

We're not that Warriors side anymore though, ay?

We were feeling sorry for Manly too. What suckers!
