Elliott was just talking about about how he was at SOO and some young blokes behind him were hammering him for letting wallace go.
He was just basically writing about how sometimes you let players who turn out to be great slip through the cracks for whatever reasons and that you don't always get to keep players even when you want to and referred specifically to Matt Wright.

NSW Under 18's dominate in QLDThursday, 12th June 2008
NEW South Wales winger Matthew Wright scored a hat-trick tonight as the Blues defeated Queensland 34-12 in the Under 18 match at Suncorp Stadium.

The classy NSW team piled on 22 unanswered points in the second half to record a comprehensive victory.

But the match was delicately poised at the break, with the half-time scoreline of 12-all reflective of the tight opening exchanges.

New South Wales drew first blood in the third minute when a slick backline movement netted a try for the flying Wright.

But Queensland struck back in the 14th minute with a spectacular try. Young Norths Devils winger Ryan Tongia leapt high into the air to secure possession from a kick before offloading a freakish pass to Gerard Beale.

Beale displayed ultra quick reflexes to ground the ball amid a flurry of NSW bodies.

New South Wales dominated the opening stages of the second half, with tries from Lachlan Coote and Mitchel Johnson.

Queensland came close to getting back within striking distance when classy halfback Ben Hunt nearly executed a try from superb chip kick.

NSW made the Maroons pay for the near miss when Wright grabbed his second in the corner with seven minutes remaining.

Wright completed his hat-trick with four minutes remaining.

Queensland prop Josh McGuire was a standout for the home team.

McGuire made a number of bustling hit-ups in an inspirational performance. The home side was also well served by young back-rower Patrick O’Hanlon, who scored Queensland’s second try.

New South Wales 34 (Matthew Wright 3, Lachlan Coote, Albert Kelly, Mitchel Johnson tries; Lachlan Coote 5 goals) def Queensland 12 (Gerard Beale, Patrick O’Hanlon tries; Jordan Rankin 2 goals)

Sounds like we lost a good one, wonder how Coote and Graham went.

If we keep Jennings under lock and key for the next 10 years I wouldn't be too angry with management. We also have Waddell the wonderkid who is likely ahead in the pecking order considering his contract, so I think we're alright.
Now if Penrith tried to keep him and failed, then yeah disgraceful. Have they beat any clubs in a head to head stoush over a player lately. And don't say Souths or Raiders, because they fell over the line.

I agree. Jennings and Waddell, to a lesser degree are tried and tested.

Where would he play in our team? He isn't as good at Coote, Gordon, Jennings, Waddell. Possibly the other wing spot?

House and Lewis in the side for experience, to steer the young blokes around in 2010 onwards.
