I bought a PS3 a few months ago....got it set up as a media server and it is fantastic.

As with the 360, I can stream movies and music etc from my PC.

Wii - bought it on launch. By my count there are about 4-5 top notch games, up there with the best of anything the 360/PS3 has to offer. There are a fair few other decent games, but a sh*tload of utterly crap mini game fests, shovelware, and "casual games". Very few developers put in the effort, especially graphics wise. I'm pretty jaded towards Nintendo at the moment, especially considering I am/was a Nintendo fan for all my life. Gamecube at this time in its life had more good games, regardless of what the haters say.

PS3 - I think it has a fair few good games, but nothing that makes me want to buy it. Imo it has less good exclusives than Wii, and considering how much I'm bitching about Wii lately...meh. Maybe when its like $400 in a few years from now and has the awesomeness that will be God Of War 3, I'll care.

Xbox360 - Bought it last Christmas, one of the best consoles I've ever had. A load of really good games of all kinds, the best online service (though you have to pay for it), no complaints whatsoever. And the best future games library imo.

The Cube's problem was never the games - it had some brilliant ones. It was the marketing of the product that let it down.

out of curiosity, which games do you own on each console danish? i've been tossing up over whether my next purchase will be a ps3 or x360.

Go for the 360'. All the best games are on both consoles, but Xbox edges out the ps3 with its exclusives. Xbox has: Gears of war 1&2, Far Cry 2, Banjo Kazooie 360 as opposed to Metal Gear solid on Ps3. Altough Ps3 will soon have the new god of war.

Don't forget the price either. Xbox 360 is very cheap.

ps3 is very attractive for GT5 and RE5. gears of war, far cry 2 i can have on my pc. Banjo Kazooie, however, is a very attractive proposition. the first is an absolute classic.

RE5 is on both consoles. One of the great games both will share, unless you mean there's a difference between RE5 on the 360 & Ps3?

I have a 360 and want to buy a PS3 but am having trouble justifying the purchase.

I recently purchased a top of the range Samsung LCD TV and will receive a free Blu Ray player soon so I have no need for the Blu Ray capabilities of the PS3. I would have gone the Bravia route (with a free PS3)but all the reviews I had read said Samsun were better (the specs seemed better too.)

Outside of MGS4 I can't think of any games that make me want to shell out $700. I think RE5 is on the 360 and Gran Turismo 5 has an inferior driving engine (atleast according to all the hardcore drivers I've talked to, who've played Prologue.)

What other games are out or coming that will compell me to make the purchase?

high fives for the purple lunchbox. imo by the end of its lifecycle the lack of disc space (1.8gb, wtf nintendo), and nintendo's refusal to support either online or widescreen televisions (component cable support was ditched) started to hurt the games. But meh, there were some amazing games. On Wii at the moment i have Twilight Princess, Metroid Prime 3, Mario Galaxy, Smash Bros Brawl, Zack and Wiki. Disappointing really. I've bought more 360 games than that in the last 2 months.

God of War 3. The previous 2 were hands down the best games on PS2 imo.
Ratchet and Clank.
Resistance, FPS, rated highly by interwebs and magazines. Sequel coming.
Uncharted: Drakes Fortune, also rated highly.
Couple more good looking FPS coming, eg Killzone 2.

Far Cry 2 is coming to the PS3 and Ubi Montreal actually prefer the PS3, they've been demoing the game on PS3 so I don't know where you get this "exclusive" stuff from. Rumour is that Crytek are also doing a Crysis port exclusively for the PS3.

And you've quoted 1 exclusive game for PS3. Resistance 2 > Gears of War 2 any day of the week, 10 player online in Gears 2 versus 60 player online in R2. And you're excited for Banjo Nuts & Bolts? You'd be the only one.

Look up "LittleBigPlanet". It's going to revolutionize gaming. No Banjo game from the trainwreck that has become of Rare is going to compare to LBP.

So paying an extra $200 for the Ps3 is justified for a mediocre game such a Resitance?:?

LBP= Pffft. Looks like a silly game.

Crysis would be awsome, but it's just a rumor, isn't it?

Pff. I'd rather Gears than Resistance. Blatantly claiming 60 players is better than 10 is plain silly. Gears simply wouldn't make sense with 60 players, it isn't a huge massive deathmatch kind of game. That's like saying Smash Bros would be better with 24 players. (of course Nintendo managed to f**k up Smash Bros online with 4, but that's another story). And BK3 looks awesome. This is the game that will bring Rare back to their glory days....maybe. Imo Viva Pinata was a pretty cool game if you enjoy the life-growy-sim genre.

No it's easy to say one game is better than another without either being released, the internet will tell you, 60 is bigger than 10 so it must be better, it's not rocket surgery. Bigger = better in ALL things.

LBP will revolutionize gaming? It's a platform game with user created content, it may be fun and become huge but it's hardly going to revolutionize anything from what I've seen.

Samsung and Sony Bravia panels are exactly the same. They are even made in the same factory, Sony just complete the constuction in Japan.

I bought a bravia because I didn't like the gloss finish the Samsung had. It was too reflective for my bright living room. The Sony screen isn't reflective.

Both great TV's though with epic pictures.

I bought a PS3 because I've never gotten the hang of Xbox's or Xbox 360 controllers. Its strange, but I like the comfort of the PS3. Plus I didn't have a Blu-ray player.

Then there's is the whole RROD thing. Sure, it can be fixed by sending your console away but I can't justify spending a couple of hundred dollars on a product knowing that there is a very good chance that it will have problems.

A guy I work with has had 4 red rings of death on 4 machines.....

No, it's a close quarters lag-fest kind of game, I'm still enjoying the 1 second delay on my shotgun bullets in Gears 1. Strangely absent from Resistance FOM, wonder why, hrmz.

Go tell some more lies about what's exclusive to the 360. And learn to spell Resistance. I could tell you why Resistance isn't mediocre but I suspect you haven't even played it so why bother? No point in arguing someone who would value a Crysis port over something genuinely innovative like LBP.

Games have had level creators before...

I own Resistance, and personally I think it's plenty mediocre. Nothing special about it at all, it's very linear and the enemies and guns are boring. Still have no desire to finish the last third of the game.

(Not comparing to 360 games BTW, there's plenty of those I've played that I find mediocre as well, including Halo3)

Social sites with free access and a simple interface to view and create content that aren't platform dependant vs. A PS3 exclusive platform game that you need to buy and comes with content creation tools, yeah I can see the comparison.

lol... social networking sites are new and revolutionary for their time... 2d platformers and user created content are neither new nor revolutionary... it's just that console gamers haven't experienced it before. the PC has had user created content since noah had an ark.. and for obvious reasons.

that said, littlebigplanet looks awesome... can't wait to play it. it's just nothing revolutionary.

LBP is a level creator with a game, not a game with a level creator. How many of your games allow you to upload your created levels to a server for others to download and rate, then those levels are ranked according to downloads and ratings, and your playthroughs of those levels are captured on video within the game and directly uploaded to Youtube to again be rated, ranked and shared?

Not many, I'd imagine.

The cost is well beside the point, it's still a game and any game costs money.

Oh, and just a game with content creation tools? It's an entire game designed around creating and sharing levels and you talk about it like it's a side feature.

I could word that social networking sentence to make it sound like nothing new (picture uploaders and internet diaries are neither new nor revolutionary, see?).

So it's still revolutionary for console gaming. But has there ever been a game on PC dedicated to creating and sharing levels? Mods are great but only the hardcore geeks can create them, LBP is designed for everybody. The hardcore gamers can create something big and amazing, the casual gamers can create simple levels with all their favourite photos etc. No PC mod-based game can boast that kind of broad market.
