Brett Stewart pushed Quinn in the back which constitutes a penalty. Unfortunate but they are the rules. I thought Manly really gave it to the Storm and had them rattled. It took a class of brilliance between Cronk and Slater just before half time and then the determination of Cronk to win this game.

I really have to say that was the best defensive display I have seen from a team in a long time. The last 6 minutes to constantly defend your line to protect the game was great. Manly gave it everything then and the Storm defence held.

Manly will take alot of confidence out of this match and know they can put the Storm off their game.

Orford is a good half back when the forwards are in control but seriously when the going get tough he just seems to fail on his last play options and looks crap. IMO that's why he doesn't get picked for Origin etc. Come September if they play games where their go forward has been stopped he may pose a big problem for Manly.

I'm not Manly bashing by the way, just calling it how I see it. They need to plan how they will react in this situation or they will struggle to outplay Storm again should they meet.

He forwards were on a roll last night but he buckled under pressure like he does.

Manly, Manly, Manly....

If they had a halfback they would win the comp. The eagle's performance yeaterday was first class. For 70min of that game, Manly hammered Melbourne with their physicality, aggression and attack. Melbourne had nothing, yet they still won the game...

To the Storm's credit, it was a fntastic defensive effort. They all worked as a unit, and showed why they are the best..

They try that geyer scored. Back it up to the play before, and Cam Smith threw a forward pass to Hoffman...It went 3 m forward...Call No.1
However, Many calls unfairly, went the way of Melbourne. Brett Stewart clearly scored. Stewart didnt intentionally push Quinn, he had his eyes on the ball the whole time, and Quinn was impeding Stewart, so...That is Call no. 2

Then, just before Cronk's try..the ref ruled a knock on by Glenn Stewart...On the replay Lima hit it first..so a 60-40 call..went the way of Melbourne. Call No. 3
.......
Manly should've won

Quinn purposely obstructed Stewart which constitutes a penalty.

Should have been Manlys ball ten out.

FFS...definitely showing your ignorance and the fact that you have not read many replies from Storm fans.
Actually I apologise , I did make a sweeping generalization re: storm fans.
In truth my comments were directed at yourself .

Most of your posts and replies throughout the forums have that " look at the scoreboard , we are the premiers" slant.

I love all these opposition fans calling Manly sh!t and saying we can't beat Melbourne, hang on a second what is your teams record against Melbourne in the last 3 years? From memory only one team has a better record against them in that time period then Manly and that is the Warriors who have beaten them twice.

The only reason Melbounre looked poor last night is because they don't like it when teams get up in their face like Manly did. That is why they tend to look poorer against teams like the Warriors and Sharks, because those two teams have their big blokes get up in their faces, and that is the only way you beat the storm. If Orford's kicking game wasn't so bad last night and we had Lyon at 5/8 we would have won.

What's our record in the last 3 years? Hmm, we did beat them in a Grand Final, something Manly won't be experiencing any time soon.

One thing I got out of this game.

Manly played to their absolute potential in attack and defence last next.

Storm did not, yet won. Scary thought for the rest of the competition.

Get your hand off it...
Melbourne full strength/Manly missing their 5/8th and representative prop.
Manly dropped a fair bit of ball and this was no way near their best. Melbourne threw everything they had at Manly, and got the majority of the 50/50 calls.

Brett Stewart deserved to be penalised for taking out a player to score the try.

Masada Iosefa was penalised for less then that last week when he scored, and Manly fans claim the decision was correct. So obviously the Brett Stewart try was also correct.

In defence, Manly have no room for improvement. In attack they do.

Matt Orford had a terrible game and crippled their attack. If he had a ripper and a proper 5/8... Manly could have destroyed Melbourne last night.

storm wont play that bad next time around. well hopefully not anyway.

The Storm were not allowed to play as the Manly forwards dominated. Nothing to do with you being off your game, it was all to do with Manly being in their face and belting them.

Ugh, completely different. Iosefa pushed someone trying to pick up the ball, Stewart ran into someone trying to impede him.

Yes you have beaten them ONCE, sure it was the most important match of the year, but you still have a poor record against them over the last three years. Brisbane couldn't beat them during the season yet did in the GF, so it just shows that nothing is impossible come finals time. Melbourne do have the wood over us, but they also have the wood over every other team in the comp. As the old saying goes every win they have against us is one step closer to their next loss against us. I'm not calling this year over for Manly just yet, but if opposition teams and fans want take us lightly then go for it.

Oh we will be happier come September when the steroid inflated knights are nowhere to be seen, either way last night was a phsycological win for the Eagles they shoulda won 16-? but thats done & they can go into the finals knowing the Storm are beatable.

Of course we are.

If you dont believe me, their first try came off 2 forward passes, their third try came off a non existent knock on from menzie & give us stuies try & the Storm suprise suprise LOST THE GAME! Archer was shocking in the ruck i was at the game Storm are disguting live, Crocker at one point in the final minutes tackled suart on his 5 m line & attcked him with both hands while he was on the ground, & that had been happening all game, I laughed when that fool had DAvid Williams on the ground then picked him up with both hands & performed thew pile driver on him hhahahahahah was a rematch of WWE

There was one flat pass in the lead up to that try, all the rest were backwards. I could go through tapes and find some Manly forward passes, there were one or two.

What about the non existent knock on from Geyer, it was kicked at him, he didn't play at it and called a knock on.

What about right at the end where Manly got a drop out yet it clearly came off the Manly player last.

What about Manly continuing to tackle us around the head and work us over on the ground around the head and finally being penalized for it (not enough though!)

Manly got two 50/50's go against them.. the no-try which technically is the right call. And the knock on that could have gone Manly's way but went our way. Melbourne had just as many 50/50 decisions go against us.

The difference is we were able to make the most of those decisions and your errors. You weren't good enough to make the most of our "knock on" that wasn't, or the "drop out" that shouldn't have been.

The majority of Manly supporters on here are just sore losers.

And anyone who says we have had all the ref calls go our way this year hasn't been watching us. Most recent example is our game vs NZ a couple of weeks ago.

Manly will use this game to get themselves a win in the GF all you haters just wait. Storm cant continue to win games with tactics like that one team will catch them out. Kites hit on Crocker lol he should sqaushed his nose teach him a lesson at Brooky.

yeah.. lol.. haha so funny.

You can keep laughing at childish crap like that... I'll take the win.

Thanks.

Melbourne couldn't play their best because manly dominated the ruck area.
