what the police have said officially as backed by a witness, watson

Watson did not say there was an assault.
The police allege there was an assault due to circumstantial evidence.
They could also allege there wasn't assault due to to insufficient evidence.
If there is insufficient evidence, it will not go to court or will be thrown out.

Watson said that Bird tried to blame him for his actions.
Why would Bird blame someone if nothing happened?

THAT is what makes him appear guilty, and why everyone has crucified him already.

he says that bird tried to ask him to take the rap for it

The police allege there was an assault due to circumstantial evidence.

and physical evidence

They could also allege there wasn't assault due to to insufficient evidence.

yeah

but they didnt

If there is insufficient evidence, it will not go to court or will be thrown out.
perhaps

though so far a judge has ajudicated their is sufficient evidence for a conviction even without a statement by the victim who doesnt seem to be in a hurry to issue one exonerating bird

According to a police version of events tendered in Sutherland Local Court yesterday, Mr Watson, 23, had met Bird's solicitor at a local McDonald's after the call. "We don't want this getting to the media," the solicitor allegedly said.
The accused person … is actively trying to deceive police by inferring other people are involved in the matter and not being entirely honest," he said.
Acting Sergeant Zalunardo said Mr Watson had been at the Bankstown Golf Club on the morning of the alleged attack. "This places considerable doubt on the version of Mr Bird," he said.

According to facts tendered in court, Bird took Milligan to hospital with serious eye injuries.

There they told police Bird's flatmate, Greg Watson, was responsible for the attack.
seems very clear to me

(ABC) Accountancy firm PKF has agreed to stay on as the sleeve sponsor of the Cronulla Sharks despite concerns over Greg Bird's arrest at the weekend. ...

Well done PKF common sense prevails despite the rantings of the lynch mob.

PKF have done very nicely out of this. They have presented themselves as a company who insist on anyone they sponsor possessing the same high moral standards they would have us believe they espouse. They have had plenty of free advertising as a result in Sydney's most popular newspaper to that effect and have walked away from a meeting with the club apparently satisfied with a deal nutted out to assist young men with alcohol and violence issues especially concerning women therefore raising their profile considerably. They must be stoked.

They obviously changed their minds after reading my email!

To Whom it may concern.
I think it is very wrong of you to consider pulling your sponsorship of the Sharks Jersey. With this act you are condemning and judging a whole team and by implication the supporter and fan base, many of whom wear the PKF Sharks supporter jerseys and like myself support our sponsors were possible. Whilst the future dose not look good for Greg Bird he has not had a chance to defend himself in a court. The Sharks club has a firm record of dealing with incidents like this one involving Greg Bird . I would ask you to consider very carefully your actions regarding the sponsorship of the Sharks NRL side and by default its supporter base in Sydney and Australia. The Sharks are I think about to embark on a very successful period in the clubs history and it would be great to have PKF on board.

Did the Titans lose any sponsers from the Lafranchi case?

Does anybody think it's weird that the media and the general public are more galvanised in thier opinion about an alledged assault on a woman MORE than an alledged rape?
The case was centered around the time Laffranchi was playing for the Tigers, not the Titans.

Surely

Is a guest moderator one that fills in while the usual ones are away?

Your condescending approach does nothing for you or your club.

If only you were half as smart as you think you are......tsk, tsk...

Hurry back the appropriate mods please...this dude is making a fool of the club and your role as mods.
