Manly after Pearce

Can we tell the future? You are speculating that we will cheat the cap in the future ffs, at least wait till we do not lose any of these players. If that happens fair enough to raise questions but before it even happens? get a grip.

Yes we have improved each year, but that is through smart recruitment and getting the best from our players. Ballin, Cuthbo, Hall, G Stewart, Bryant, Robbo, Williams were all no names till last year and this year.

I'm not saying that you're cheating the cap at all...infact I wished our club had managed the squad as well as your club does but the proof is that we can't organise a root in a brothal, I simply don't know how you guys do it but you just do and good luck to you, if I was a Manly supporter I would just shrug my shoulders and enjoy the good times not worry what other supporters think.

I'm merely sticking my neck out and saying that this gf will not effect your club as much as people expect, you'll go back to back next year and atleast come very close for a few more years.

just enjoy it.

You are not saying directly we are cheating the cap, just insinuating it :)

you can take it however way you want it, fact remains that your premiers and we're not, so why should it bother you?? don't let my opions cloud your efforts this year. ;-)

Parra and we have a stack

there'd be more Parra juniors in the Manly team next year than Manly juniors

And can you tell me both the population of the Parra juniors area, and the number of people playing league in that area? I would bet my house that the number is a huge amount larger than the respective number in Manly's catchment area.

what has that got to do with anything?

it seems Manly is not a League area so it's pointless having a team there

Yea that's not really true is it.

Bell and Orford were both outstanding players before leaving melbourne. Perry, well he played for NSW and won a premiership, he wasnt in sparkling form but his improvement has been minimal. Lyon, played tests for australia and was one of the most dangerous right centres in the game. Kite, was in great form for StGeorge when Manly bought him.

Manly bought well, but im not having any of this sh*t about how Des turned them into great players from nothing. They went on a huge spending spree, bought a lot of senior players into the club and bought a premiership like usual. Im not saying its right or wrong, but please lets not pretend its anything other than that.

Manly came 14th in 2003 and 13th in 2004, of course they were going to go out and buy some players. In case you have been living under a rock since the 70's all teams these days buy players, especially when they are down the bottom of the ladder due to the salary cap concerns.

And for every Orford or Bell, there is a Glenn Hall, Glenn Stewart, David Williams etc.

Do I have to spell it out for you? Smaller population = less people playing rugby league = less quality juniors coming through. Simple.

I'm not sure how hard it is to understand that if Manly have 4 juniors playing for them, a team with twice as many juniors may well have twice as many local juniors playing for it.

Being a wests tigers man who in three short years have gone from the penthouse to the cellar I admire the way Manly are planning next year and beyond. Now I think Pearce is a pretty good no7 and will probably improve but at present is over rated, but what I do like is the way Manly are out their trying to keep on top. People might bag them and say they are trying to buy a title, but thats the way you have to go, the days of hoping you are going to find 17 internationals who will play for peanuts in your own backyard are gone.

Great idea, lets just have teams in a few areas of Sydney and Brisbane. Great way to grow the game.

You are either a good fisherman or just plain stupid making comments like that.

Manly have probably only got 4 juniors in the etire NRL

waste of time having a team there where no one cares or plays

no lets have teams where people play the game like the CC for example

it would be a tragedy to lose heartland to other codes and keep teams like Manly in who will never offer anything

Except a great demographic for sponsors, better average crowds than most Sydney teams in the worst stadium in professional sport and being the only club over the bridge. Yeh, kick us out, that'll help league in Sydney.

Oh yeh, how's that 22 year drought? You must be having a tough time growing crops, no wonder the bait you throw is so damn measly.

it won't hurt it

losing heartland areas with juniors will

this seems beyond the comprehension for some of you. funnily enough those are fans of the team who offer nothing in their current location

Are you developmentally geniused or something? Manly only have 4 juniors because it is a small area. Of course Parra will produce more juniors, because it is a much bigger area. What part of that is too hard to understand?

And just out of interest, how many juniors do clubs such as the Roosters, Cronulla, or Balmain produce? I would imagine it isn't a high number.

And as for kicking Manly out of the comp not hurting the competition, may I remind you that in 2007 their average crowds were better than Parramatta, Dragons, Roosters, Panthers, Storm, Sharks and Raiders.

no, but it appears you are

you have just repeated the reasons why i have been saying Manly is a waste of time and should be abandoned and forced to relocate to an area that actually plays the game

I suppose the ONLY measure of a club's usefulness to Rugby League is how many juniors it produces.

Congratulations Parra, the streak of club championships are forever etched in history. You're not failures after all!

I agree, were better off holding our dominance on the sydney market as long as we can. I agree sydney clubs are feeling financial pressure, but we shouldnt go extinguishing them, if we can explore all avenues first to keep them alive.
