North Brisbane Bears

A second Brisbane team is a must in the next expansion period.

I think the North of Brisbane is one of the biggest areas in Brisbane, including the Redcliffe area. A North Brisbane team would be the best team. A North Brisbane Bears team would be even better. A team representing North Brisbane, Redcliffe and Sunshine Coast.

The team would have some history, former North Sydney fans would have their team back (even though in QLD its still better than nothing, and they would play 6-7 games in Sydney every year at away games)

A lot of old North Sydney fans up here too that I know. If this team happened I would swap teams and support them.

Even bring one home game down to NSO every year.

I can hope.

If Brisbane do get a new team, it will be based in South West - Ipswich, Springfield area. It has to be a totally new club, no one will support a relocated/revived Sydney team. Maybe a St. George would suvive because of the large amount of supporters who now live in the Brisbane area.

I think places like Brisbane and NZ need to be left alone in terms of expansion at this stage.
Over saturation is a huge problem in Sydney,it can't happen anywhere else or the code will fall even more.

Perth needs the next team and their OWN team.

Brisbane deserve a second team. Before expanding to Perth etc, why not continue to grow rugby league where rugby league is at it's strongest. Central Coast next, then Brisbane, then maybe Perth if the NRL is strong enough by that stage to support a side in a struggling area.

The Broncos are pretty much from the northside anyway.

I don't see any great need for another Brisbane club. The market is pretty well stitched up. If the gAy League has shown us anything it's that one-team cities is a winner. And if the mess that is Sydney has proved anything it's that splitting the market into pieces just makes it harder for all of them to survive and succeed while sucking up millions of dollars a year in central funding.

I think the bears proposal to move to the central coast would be a solid one.

League isn't falling in Sydney because of over saturation of teams afterall for many years we had 11 or 12 clubs with no probs. It's because of the game being taken away from supporters, played at crap stadiums, at supporter unfriendly times. Crowds in Sydney are actually around the highest in the games history. The problem is the game is perceived negatively because of the media and failure from the games administrators to grow the pie.

Rather then grow the game in Sydney we'd rather run and let another code in. True league sense.

I agree Bears and Reds. Then push for 20 further down the track. Balance between expansion and the traditional clubs (the foundation of our game). Work together to make all clubs strong not work against each other.

Basically we need some strong leadership with the games interests at heart not pay TV.

Brisbane fans wouldnt accept a revived NSW team. The reason that Sydney teams are struggling IS because of market saturation. Next new team should be a team in an area not currently in the NRL. Central Coast, Adelaide or Perth.

Take the fight to the AFL, WA Reds 2013, you know it makes sense!

That would basically only leave Adelaide and the sunshine coast and the NRL would have a team in the top 10 population centres in the country and be able to claim to be the only TRUE national code in Australia!

agreed totally. Do the Broncos sell out every game, every week? no! they are lucky to sell out 1 game a season. even if their crowds are good, until they are selling out games, then there is no need for another brisbane team. There already kinda is another team, the titans. which isnt at all far from brisbane. I live on the gold coast and manage to get to most broncos games with no problem. so until the titans and broncos start consistently selling out games, then another brisbane team shouldnt even be proposed.

No more SE Qld Teams, Less sydney teams, 1 in perth, 1 in adelaide. there is your national comp.

Perth and Adelaide need to be next to be truly national.

Better to be sucessful than national.

Funny then that Brisbane can only support one team per 2 million people (including Sunshine Coast), which is a quarter of what Sydney can sustain. Where is the game struggling again?

Actually, I think a northern Brisbane side, if elevated, should be Redcliffe. Only problem would be refurbishing Dolphin Oval, or playing home games all the way over at Lang Park.

Brisbane had a second team, The SOUTH QLD CRUSHERS and they failed. They could not attract crowds.

I agree there is merit in a 3rd South Qld team. This will happen within decade and it will be in the Ipswich area. Gallop has already looked at the growth plans in the area. He has met with the mayor. A new stadium will be built in the Ripley area ( west of Ipwich)

Also Manly will be playing approx 4 of their home matches at the Sunshine Coast from 2011 maybe some in 2010

They averaged over 21K in their first season.

There are a dozen reasons why they died, lack of support in Brisbane for a second team is certainly not one of them.

Yeah that whole 1 team is drowning the entire New Zealand market.

Crowds in Sydney the highest in history? Did you see the near empty stadiums on TV? In Sydney that is.

And did you see the near full stadiums at one team towns? Knights, Titans, Broncos, Cowboys.
