Personally I hate hair. I don't like hair on my legs, arms, underarms and like most girls these days go for the Brazilian treatment. It feels so much better and is so much cleaner. But u know what? A really hairy guy ain't cool either. At least trim the naughty area PLZ THX.

Didn't think anyone cared about arm hair...unless it was like gross gorilla style shoulder hair or something...

Na mine isn't that bad, but when I was little I seen my aunty shave her arms so I copied her and my arm hair was blonde then and when I shaved it, it grew back black. It isn't thick or anything I just don't like it. Now is probably the longest I let it grow before waxing it but because I've spent alot of time in the sun lately the hair has gone blonde again

You know what? It's how you wear the hair honey ;-)

Just like I don't expect a lady to trim any of her hairy bits just to please me, I'm glad that I'm lucky enough to know women who take their men as they come. Nothing wrong with a more natural state instead of expecting them to be manicured and preened within an inch of their life.

I think some people might benefit from giving this a read:

 It doesn't tell you what's hot.

It tells you the exact opposite - how people bow to pressures in society to try and conform to whatever others think are hot and cool at any one time in history.

Reading it could make anyone relax a bit more in their own skin and feel a lot better about just being whatever they are, instead of following in the steps of what's perceived to be hot or cool that week.

(Not to mention saving a fortune in waxing, tanning, cosmetic f**king surgery and associated other parts of the beauty industry that exist solely to make people - male or female these days - feel bad enough about themselves to part with their cash...)

For better or worse, beauty is almost entirely decided by social trends/pressure. If someone wants to completely ignore current perceptions of beauty, for example a woman not shaving underarms and legs, then its their loss. They might save money. Maybe even feel comfortable and happy in their own skin.... for a while, until they realise the only second look they get from most blokes is when he points out her hairy legs to his mates...harsh but true

Um, no it's not. That's the ignorant perception.

I think you'll find it's actually their (personal, internal) gain?

Being comfortable in your own skin regardless of what other people think is a feeling that must be so much lighter on the soul than being trapped in the increasing pressure most of us put ourselves under to be hot/cool/trendy/fashionable in terms of our bodies and our features.

It doesn't mean that you stop washing or never get your hair cut or anything - it just means that if you choose to shave your legs or put on make up or anything like that, you make that choice to do it purely for how it makes you feel - not because of what you think any guys/girls/magazines/ads might or might not say or do.

We're animals. I don't find it to be shallow at all, just adapting to our enviroment.

You're right to an extent. All animals find certain traits attractive in a mate, and in essence human males are the big, hairy ugly ones. So that leads many to be wired in a way that means they find relatively hairless (in this case, shaved), women attractive. Others will find small women attractive, others big women who can match their strength, and so on and so on. It's like mate selection in any other species, we select those who we innately feel will give us the best offspring, whatever those reasons may be. It's just that on top of this hard wired attraction to whatever traits, as a human with our cognitive abilities we also build up a kind of check list of things that we've seen that make people attractive to us, which makes it more pronounced...

No other animals bother to shave their pubes...

No, but in ecological and biological terms, is it any different to a male bowerbird collecting blue things for his nest, or a male peacock preening and grooming his tail feathers, or tropicbirds and birds of paradise doing the same with other various feathered displays, or any number of animals doing what they do every day to attract the best mate....It's simply one of our ways of doing the same, much like haircuts or dye or piercings or tattoos or even the way we dress...
