Gidley's condition is causing concern among the Newcastle camp, but it is not expected to rule the 26-year-old dynamo out of the first State of Origin game in Melbourne on June 3.
"He's had an injection and some tablets to settle it down and that has helped, so if he improves again tomorrow as much as he has today, he should be fine."
Im disapointed that they took Macdonald and not Vuna...would much preffer Coop or Aku at the back should kurt not play. If kurt does play we might need to play wes on the bench rather than Ndaira.
I think what the difference is compared to previous seasons is that Brian has us playing as a "team". In the past we heavily relied on the likes of Johns and Buderus.. now we have 17 guys playing as one who give their all every game. Im sure if Kurt is out, Shannon will fill in and do a good job. We do have pretty good depth in the areas that will be needed to fill come origin.
Rogers and Dureau would do a great job in the halves.
Vuna to come in for McManus (if picked)
As for Gids not playing tonight (possibly), not necessarily in terms of the overall performance by the boys that they maybe can't win, it'd just be more of a "body blow" on the day of the game to see him sit this one out.
