Why Hayne shouldn't win the Dally M Medal

That's stupid. The award should be for playing out of your skin, not playing more games. It would have to be an average.

I was only using it as an example mate.
It would be highly doubtful of happening anyways, the player of the year could average say eight a game, miss three for Origin and pick up more points regardless.

As for the awards themselves they are a joke. Look at some of the judges and the agendas they have and associations to some teams.

Dally M is a Telecrap crock of sh*t. As valuable as the sports journalism in the rag.

the judges seem to award the wrong players the total of 3 pts and when it gets to the last 3 rounds if its close they seem to make it a back and forth swap each round till the winner is crowned.

i honestly think soward deserves it and haynes form should be aknowledged in the dally m team of the year at fullback.

hayne has been playing well since round 10 around the first origin. and even before that at five eight he wasnt playing all that terribly out of position either. granted the team was going sh*thouse but hayne was still close to our best on field when we were at the bottom of the ladder too oh and hindmarsh

lol

look at all the stains fans crying over why poor little sowie might not get the dally M.

priceless.

Soward has been the best 5/8 of the year.
ennis has been the best hooker of the year.
hayne has been the best fullback of the year and so on.

the difference between hayne and soward isn't much at all in regards to the points system, but when you watch a game, who would you rather watch?

i know my answer.

do you?

More power to you if you can win it on a half-a-years perfromance.
Say something about your form or something about everyone else's

Says your form has been nothing short of scintillating ... and says nothing about anyone elses form

Question, as with Johns in 2005 I wondered how he could come close you know since his team was dead last, couldn't ahve been that f**king dominant for them to finish at the foot of the ladder.

Thurston - why the f**k should he be a chance?
His team is gonna come about 10th or so, that's also hardly a picture of dominance.

Its a f**king bias bullsh*t award anyway, for instance when M Johns was a judge and judged on some Melbourne VS whoever games, he worked for the f**king team!
WHAT THE f**k!

Rugby League Week's player of the year has more meaning, and it can, and has, been won by forwards of all positions.

Lay off the energy drinks..... it helps.

If Soward or anyone else had of had a half-decent back-half then they wouldnt be caught regardless of anyone else form.

So yes it does say something about other players form.

Unfortunately, you'd rather watch the Sharks than any other team, so that doesn't say a lot for your preferences. Also, you'd rather watch romantic comedy with your grandmother than watch a St George player, good or bad. :D

Not a huge fan of the current Dally M system....... as it clearly rewards a standout player in poor teams more often than a player who has had a huge season within a team where he may struggle to pick up points as a standout player every week.

The old Rothmans Medal award, and please correct me if I am wrong was judged by the referees wasn't it? IMO a little bit fairer system but still subjective.

Also as someone else has already mentioned the RLPA award seems to hold the most honour but receives little recognition from the NRL and associates.

I'm not sure there is a simple system that doesn't lend itself to subjectvity.

RLPA award isn't a selling point for News Ltd you see.

If it were a points system for each player - Hindmarsh would have won the Dally M at least once in his career.

Yeh Rothmans was 1,2,3 from the Refs.

Im not a big Parra Fan, in fact I downright dislike them.

But for me Hayne has had one of the best individual seasons Ive seen in my 20+ of watching League, and at all levels including Origin, the hardest level of all. For me he was player of the series, and his form leading up to that was great, and has continued.

And its not just his attack, he has pulled off some of the freakiest try saving stuff Ive seen since Matt Sing.

Take him out of that Parra side and I honestly can't seem them winning anymore games than lowly teams like the Cowboys, Souths etc.

It is an award for the 1, 6, 7 and 9s of the competition.

Steve Rogers (1981) Gavin Miler twice (1988 & 89). and Ray Price (1982) being the only exceptions.

4 years out of 29 where a 1, 6, 7 or 9 has not won.

It does not seem fair really.

These blokes depend on forwards to give them the room to move and to shine, it is a flawed prize.

Hayne also had some SOO dally m points not counted becasue Parra had the bye, so if he can still make up the 12 or 13 points he was behind when voting became private; then he deserves it.

Uh, do you remember that season? lol..

Knights were dead last with 0 wins, 4 points (2 byes) over halfway through the season without Johns and when he came back they won 8 of their last 11 or so. (Not sure on exact numbers)

So I'll go out on a limb here and say he was pretty dominant that season.

Yeah Apey and in the last round against the Dragons Johns still somehow managed to score 2 points when he didnt deserve it.
