There won't be the chaos we had when the Swans & Eagles fans crammed every hotel in town in 2005-6. But there will still be heaps of people flying in for the big day.
Playing it on the Sunday will mean people wont be drunk. People are all going to be smashed on AFL GF day. They would have to leave to come to the Storm game before the AFL is finished. Asking drunk people to do that will be nigh impossible on any day. Asking them to do it on AFL GF day will be an impossibility.
NRL, play it on Sunday! People will still come to the game then. It is NOT all about TV ratings. An empty Etihad on Saturday night will be an insult to the wonderful Melbourne Storm players & an embarrassment to any thought of a NATIONAL Rugby League.

Agree with your post. I can't see too many people making a trek from the mcg to etihad. The winning team supporters will stay behind to celebrate with their team and the losing team supporters will be crying all the way home.
AFL grandfinal day is big in Melbourne, with a lot of households having barbies and parties, etc.
However, I still think we should get 25,000+ to the game..but its got to be really promoted.
I would rather it been held on Sunday...for a much bigger crowd.
